  • 315. The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares (Only found in Matthew's gospel) June 16, 2023
    2026/10/16

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 16. I will then key in on verse 21 - The wise in heart will be called prudent, And sweetness of the lips increases learning. Friends, this is one verse of many that talks about the benefits of acquiring wisdom and implementing it in your life. One thing I will say about wisdom - it is never easily gained or quickly achieved. It, like anything in live worth any importance is something that you will have to invest in, put your heart into, and spend some time with in order for it to bear fruit. This is one of the reasons it is so important to read - both scripture and other books as well. Today we will look at the 13th Chapter of Matthew and go over why Jesus would speak to the common folk of that time in parables. I will read verses 10-17 and explain that some things have to be spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14). These verses are telling us that these people simply couldn't understand the words Jesus was very clearly explaining to them - and that's because they were trying to understand His words using human reasoning, instead of being led by the Spirit. Because of this they couldn't understand what He was intending to get across to them. I will then go over the parable of the wheat and the tares. This is a very vivid parable that portrays the world today. There is good ground (people who live their lives as productive Christians doing good and having fruit follow every aspect of their lives and their are evil people (people who may reject God or reject the Bible and do evil). We will always have a presence of evil in this world, and I believe it is up to us with what we do with that). Call to action - ask yourself if, were you to die today (or tonight) do you know where you would spend eternity? Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread Proverb 16 today; 2 Proverb 17 tomorrow; and Proverb 18 on Sunday.

  • 364. I am the Alpha and the Omega - August 24, 2023
    2026/09/24

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 24. I will then key in on verse 12 - If you say, "Surely we did not know this," Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds? Friends, this verse holds great meaning. This verse is not talking about consequences that happens to us while we are on Earth (say getting a speeding ticket), but this verse is talking about eternity. I will go over the commentary in my Bible (the Nelson Study Bible) for verse 12. It makes reference to Matthew's gospel, Chapter 5, verses 11 & 12 & the fact that if we claim to be Christians that many people will persecute and make fun of us. We need to be prepared for that. Then we go to the last chapter of the Bible, Revelation, Chapter 22, verse 12 and hear the words of Jesus. Jesus is the ultimate decider of our fate. Will we receive Him as our Lord and Savior, or will we choose to reject Him. I then go over Romans, Chapter 5, verse 18. This verse talks about Adam and how, because of his sin in the Garden of Eden, all of mankind began to have the nature of sin in them. But Jesus put an end to that. He came and gave us the choice to put aside our sin nature and begin to live righteous lives. Call to Action - Ask yourself this simple question - if you were to die this very day, do you know for certain where you will spend eternity - in Heaven with Jesus, or separated from Him in hell? Suggested scripture reading: Reread today's proverb, Proverb 24 in its entirety.

I will then backtrack & read verses 18, 19, 20, 21 & 22 and go through verse 25. Finally, I will close with 1 John Chapter 4 & read verses 17-19. Call to Action - If you are having any difficulties in any area of your life, I suggest you follow the instructions given on today's podcast. • 361. Treasure & Oil Belong to the Wise - August 21, 2023
    2026/09/21

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 21. I will then key in on verse 20 - There is desirable treasure, And oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man squanders it. Friends, God has called each of us to be stewards of what He has given us. This verse tells us that the fool doesn't even take care of his own stuff. Judy and I just returned from our trip to Maui, Hawaii yesterday afternoon. We spent five night and five days on the beautiful island of Maui. One day, we took a short flight to the island of Oahu to visit Pearl Harbor. Having been a veteran of the Army for four years many years ago, I don't believe you can visit Hawaii without paying respect to those who gave their lives for our country. It is a wonderful memorial to those men and a place I believe anyone visiting Hawaii should visit. If you steward what God has given you ( beginning with your relationships). Judy tends to take care of the inside of the house, and I take care of the yard. Call to action: Ask God if you are being a steward to: a. your spouse and your children; b. your job and your fellow employees at work; c. your house and yard? Suggested scripture reading: Please read in its entirety the proverb of the day, Proverb 21. Ask God for help if there is any verse that you have had a particular issue with in your life.
