Bronson Koenig, Wisconsin Badgers legend and former NBA G-League player, is making a long-awaited comeback at age 31—six years after his last game. After feeling he never got a fair shot to compete and battling mental, emotional, and physical struggles, Koenig says it’s now or never. He’s entering this second act with a renewed mindset, aiming to finish his basketball journey on his own terms and see what he can still do on the court.

A Wisconsin basketball icon has passed away at 66—Patrick Tompkins, the Badgers’ legendary forward who dominated from 1987 to 1991. A first-team All-Big Ten and team MVP in his senior year, he shattered records with a .636 shooting percentage (still standing for players with 100+ attempts) and holds the program’s all-time field goal mark at .573. Known for clutch moments like his buzzer-beater against Minnesota in 1991, Tompkins helped usher in historic NIT runs and embodied grit in tight games. Hailing from Waukegan, Illinois, his legacy lives on in the record books and the hearts of fans who witnessed his brilliance.

Wisconsin’s 2026-27 men’s basketball season is shaping up as one of the toughest in Big Ten history — with 20 conference games, 10 at home in the Kohl Center, and five ranked opponents including 3 Illinois and reigning champs Michigan. The Badgers open conference play on the road against Northwestern, then host Purdue before diving into a brutal January home stand featuring Illinois, Minnesota, Penn State, and Washington. February brings more marquee matchups against Oregon, Michigan, Indiana, and Iowa, plus road trips to Ohio State, Rutgers, and Illinois. They close the regular season at home against Nebraska, then head to Michigan State for the finale. The Big Ten Tournament kicks off March 9th in Indianapolis. Non-conference highlights include a Bahamas trip, Villanova, and Auburn neutral-site games. Tickets go on sale October 1st for single games and September 23rd for student season tickets — demand expected to be fierce.
