• Remember The Titans Lessons With Real Wine Talk
    2026/07/31

Remember the Titans starts as a movie-night pick and turns into a surprisingly personal conversation about what actually changes people. We talk about integration, the leftovers of segregation even after laws shift, and that line that keeps echoing: you have to know the soul of a person before you judge them. For us, the real point isn’t politics or nostalgia, it’s the everyday mechanics of fear and unfamiliarity, and how quickly “us vs them” shows up when you’ve never been asked to truly understand someone.

We also challenge a common shortcut story that says “California had it figured out,” digging into how different regions carry different versions of the same problem. Along the way we detour into surf culture, the slang, and the gatekeeping that happens in any tight community, because it’s the same pattern wearing a different outfit. If you’ve ever felt like an outsider, or caught yourself drawing a line around your own group, this part will hit close to home.

Then we switch gears into what Wine Stories is all about: great bottles and better context. We share details on our From the Sky Down release party, including a roaming “special pour” you can only get if you find us, and we recap a staff blind tasting where an oaked Albariño with malolactic fermentation fooled us hard. We break down malic vs lactic acid, why oak increases oxygen exposure, what oxidation can taste like, and even how people describe lanolin in wine. From there, we give a step-by-step explainer of traditional method Champagne (tirage, riddling, disgorgement, dosage), compare it to the Charmat method used for Prosecco, clarify how Cava is made, and talk value picks like grower Champagne.

If you like stories with meaning and wine education you can actually use, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the show.

  • Ep. 7: DeLoreans And Dahlia's
    2026/07/24

Two DeLoreans pulls up to the winery for movie night, Back to the Future rolls on the screen, and suddenly we’re talking about time travel, the Sports Almanac, and why the movie’s “future” still feels weirdly familiar. That’s the kind of summer energy we love: neighbors showing up, strangers bonding over nostalgia, and the tasting room turning into a true community hangout.

From there, we zoom into flavor from the ground up, starting with what’s happening in our garden right now. We get into zucchini harvest timing, crisp pickles versus soggy jarred ones, and why Japanese and Korean cucumber varieties make such a difference when you’re pickling at home. Along the way we connect food memories to wine language, using jasmine tea, white florals, and even specific regional wildflowers as real reference points for tasting notes.

Then we go full wine-nerd in the best way. We break down our Columbia Valley Chardonnay that leans Chablis-style: stainless steel and neutral oak, no new French oak, elevated acidity, and aromatics that stay “shy on the nose” until you work the glass. We talk what we actually taste and smell, including mountain air freshness, Asian pear, and orange blossom, and why it fooled us in a blind tasting. We also share rosé notes that hit with candied fruit energy, plus a quick update on bottling our first tiny estate wine from mystery vines we believe are Pinot Gris.

If you like wine tasting notes, winery life, garden-to-glass flavor, and local events in Woodinville, hit play, then subscribe and leave a review. What’s your go-to summer wine when it’s hot out?

  • Ep. 3: Popcorn And Cabernet
    2026/06/30

A staff movie night with Fast Times at Ridgemont High turns into the kind of wide-ranging wine talk we love, where the laughs are real, and the details still matter. We start with popcorn, pizza, and “girl dinner” versus “boy dinner,” then use those everyday moments to ask a bigger question: How do you build a better taste palate?

From there, we get practical about wine labels and sourcing, including why a bottle that says “United States Cabernet” can spark skepticism. We talk Napa Valley economics, how grape prices can skyrocket, and why some producers look to Washington State or Oregon fruit even when California has plenty of supply. If you care about transparency, value, and what you’re actually paying for, this part hits home.

Then we go deep in the glass: Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, tannins, acidity, wind-driven thick skins, and why balance is the real marker of quality. We break down why Cabernet and steak is such a classic food pairing, how aging softens tannins and widens pairing options, and where Brettanomyces fits on the spectrum from “complex” to “band-aid.” We also share a cautionary tale on wine storage and what “cooked” wine tastes like when bottles sit warm for too long.

We wrap with a dessert sprint: Port versus Madeira, favorite sweet wines like Sauternes and Vin Santo, and a clear explanation of Tavel rosé, saignée, and direct-to-press. If this sparked a new pairing idea or changed how you read a label, subscribe, share the show with a wine-curious friend, and leave a review so more people can find us.

    • Why rain, heat, aspect, and site shape a vintage
    • How soil types and drainage affect vine stress and wine character
    • What we mean by minerality and how to describe it better
    • Kimmeridgian marl, fossil oyster shells, and why Chablis loves oysters
    • El Nino, fire season, vineyard loss, and smoke taint concerns
    • From the Sky Down bottling updates plus Chardonnay and malolactic trends
    • Carmenere’s history, Bordeaux blending, and why it deserves more love
