With a focus on AVAs in this episode, I take you through what an AVA is, how it can be defined, how it can be home to other AVAs (because that makes a lot of sense), and the general rules that are required to maintain some sense of structure. I started with AVAs too because they are more fluid (pun) and less rigid than the PDOs of European wine countries.
