  • Ep. 123 - Should Whole Life Insurance Disappear From Agriculture? We're Answering Back.
    2026/09/24

A popular podcast recently made a bold claim: if they had a magic wand, they'd get rid of whole life insurance in agriculture altogether. Winnie and Lacy heard it, sat with it, listened twice to be fair, and decided the claim deserved a real response.

In this episode, they break down what the critique got right, where it missed the mark, and why "whole life insurance" and The Infinite Banking Concept® aren't quite the same conversation.

They untangle the confusing idea of "borrowing twice," explain why age and setup matter more than a blanket rule, and explain why working with an authorized Nelson Nash Institute practitioner changes everything.

If you're a Canadian farm or ranch family trying to figure out where whole life insurance really fits into your financial picture, this episode gives you the fuller story — the one that didn't make it into the first eight minutes of that other podcast.

  • Ep. 122 - When Mother Nature Calls the Shots: Are You Financially Prepared?
    2026/09/17

Drought. Forced herd reductions. Unexpected income. Tax consequences. And eventually—the need to rebuild.

A recent announcement about Canada's Livestock Tax Deferral got Lacy thinking about a much bigger question: What happens when circumstances force you to make a financial decision before you're ready?

In agriculture, we don't control the weather, the markets, interest rates, or government policy. But we can control how we prepare.

In this episode, Lacy explores why being asset-rich isn't the same as having liquidity, why a temporary tax deferral doesn't solve a long-term cash-flow problem, and why building a pool of capital you control can give you options when adversity—or opportunity—shows up.

Because selling the cows isn't necessarily the end of the financial decision. Someday you may need to rebuild that herd. Where will the money come from?

The goal isn't to predict what happens next. It's to be financially prepared enough that you have choices when it does.

  • Ep. 121 - Land Rich, Cash Poor: Who Really Controls Your Wealth?
    2026/09/10

You can own millions of dollars in land, cattle and equipment and still feel like you're constantly looking for cash.

That's the reality for a lot of farm and ranch families. We can be incredibly wealthy on paper, yet still depend on banks, government programs, retirement accounts and outside institutions to access the money we need.

In Chapter 4 of Building Your Warehouse of Wealth, Nelson Nash uses the analogy of the boiled frog to show how slowly we can become accustomed to giving up control of our money. Retirement plans, tax incentives, pensions and government programs can all feel like security—but how often do we stop and ask: Who actually controls the money?

Nelson wrote from an American perspective, but the principle applies just as much to Canadian farm and ranch families. We have CPP, OAS, RRSPs, employer pensions and other registered programs. The question isn't whether these programs are good or bad. The question is how much of our financial future we want dependent on systems where someone else makes the rules.

Because there's a big difference between owning wealth and controlling capital.

If most of your wealth is tied up in land, cattle, equipment and accounts you don't want—or can't afford—to liquidate, what happens when you need money? Do you have access to capital you control, or do you have to ask someone else for it?

That's why building your own Warehouse of Wealth matters.

This episode isn't about abandoning everything you've been taught about retirement or saving. It's about looking at your farm or ranch differently, understanding where your wealth actually lives, and intentionally building a pool of capital that gives you more control, liquidity and options throughout your lifetime.

Because the goal shouldn't be to spend a lifetime building a valuable operation only to discover that accessing your own wealth still requires someone else's permission.

  • Ep. 120 - Living While Giving: Funding Your Kids' Future with Michael DeLon
    2026/09/03

What if the hardest part of building wealth for your children isn't the money—it's making sure they're ready for it?In this episode, Winnie sits down with Michael DeLon, founder of Paperback Expert, husband, father of four, and grandfather, who has used The Infinite Banking Concept® to build a family pool of money with his wife, Jill, since 2013. Michael shares how they started from mutual funds and a market correction that shook their confidence, how they've used permanent life insurance policies to help their adult children with real-life needs like an air conditioner repair, and how they're funding their kids' retirement now instead of waiting to leave a lump-sum inheritance later. He also opens up about using policy loans to help young families break free of high-interest debt, and why he believes character and stewardship must come before ownership.

This conversation is about more than policies and premiums. It's about what it actually takes to raise children who are ready to carry a family's financial legacy forward—and it offers practical, real-world guidance for Canadian families thinking through their own generational wealth plan. Michael's story shows how a family pool of money, used well, can bring a family closer instead of pulling it apart.

  • Ep. 119 - The Narrow Gate: Changing the Way You Think About Money - Warehouse of Wealth Ch. 3
    2026/08/27

In Chapter 3 of Building Your Warehouse of Wealth, Nelson Nash takes a hard look at the spending habits of the average family—and this chapter hit home.

Money has to flow. We earn it, spend it, save it, make payments with it and use it to buy everything from groceries and vehicles to homes, land, cattle and equipment. The money is going to move whether we practice Infinite Banking or not. The bigger question is: where is it flowing, and how much control do we have over that flow?

In this episode, Lacy breaks down Nelson's reminder that we finance everything we buy. We either pay interest to someone else for the use of their money, or give up what our own money could have earned when we pay cash.

But Nelson takes the conversation one step further. Our need for financing throughout our lifetime is far greater than our need for death benefit. So why not build a financial system that can address both?

Lacy connects Nelson's examples of automobiles, housing, living expenses, principal and interest back to participating whole life insurance—and why we have to change the way we think if we want to see its possibilities. She also shares why you don't have to own the biggest farm, run the largest ranch, or already be wealthy to start. Your banking system is built for your needs, and it's built incrementally over time.

And sometimes choosing a different financial path means being willing to take the narrow road.

As Nelson closes the chapter: the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is today.

If you want greater control of the money already flowing through your life, farm, ranch or business, this episode is for you.

  • Ep. 118 - The Infinite Banking Concept®: Are You Staying Engaged?
    2026/08/20
What does it actually mean to live The Infinite Banking Concept® instead of simply owning a participating whole life insurance policy? In this episode, Winnie and Lacy explore why staying engaged is such an important part of practicing IBC as a financial lifestyle. Using real client conversations, they unpack what can happen when families lose sight of why they started, begin looking at a premium as just another expense, focus too heavily on rate of return, or make financial decisions based on one piece of the picture instead of considering their entire family financial system. One client conversation started with a simple question: Should we pay the annual premium, or let the policy's cash value sustain it? The family had money available, but they were also managing seasonal ranch cash flow and waiting for fall calf sales. Holding onto cash felt safer. That opened the door to a much bigger conversation about scarcity thinking, liquidity, policy loans, dividends, premiums, and financial control. Instead of looking only at the money leaving the bank account, Winnie and Lacy explain why families need to understand what their policy has already accomplished, what liquidity is available to them, and how today's decision fits into the reason they implemented IBC in the first place. They also tackle a common question: What is the rate of return? Rather than allowing one calculation to define whether a policy is "working," this episode looks at the bigger picture. What did the dividend actually do inside the policy? How has the death benefit changed? What access to capital does the family have? How is the family financing purchases? And is the system helping them maintain greater control over how money moves through their lives? This is where Cash Smart for Life thinking becomes practical. Financial education isn't only about knowing more. It's about building habits and systems that help you think proactively before a financial decision becomes urgent. Winnie uses the simple analogy of brushing your teeth. You don't wake up every morning and reinvent the process. You have a system. In the same way, families shouldn't have to rediscover their IBC strategy every time a premium comes due. Regular policy reviews, strategy sessions, understanding policy activity, and remembering your original "why" can help make managing your family pool of money part of normal financial life. The conversation also moves beyond today's cash flow and into generational planning. Winnie and Lacy share the story of clients receiving a family windfall and considering how those dollars could be incorporated into the financial system they were already building. What made the conversation emotional wasn't simply receiving money. It was recognizing that decisions made by parents and grandparents could continue affecting children and future generations. For Canadian farm and ranch families, that connects directly to financial resilience, succession planning, business continuity, liquidity, and legacy. Ranch Your Way is about helping families think beyond today's transaction and consider how financial decisions can strengthen the family and operation over time. And staying engaged isn't something that happens only at an annual policy review. Every time you finance a purchase, you make a decision about where the money will come from and who will control that financing relationship. Cash? A credit card? An outside lender? Or, when appropriate, your own IBC system? Those individual decisions may seem small, but repeated over a lifetime, they shape how money flows through your family. In this episode, you'll learn: Why owning a policy is different from living The Infinite Banking Concept® What staying engaged with an IBC strategy can look like in everyday life Why annual policy reviews matter How premiums, dividends, cash value, and policy loans fit into the bigger financial picture Why seasonal cash flow can create scarcity thinking for farm and ranch families Why focusing only on rate of return can narrow your financial thinking How liquidity can give families more options when financial decisions arise Why your method of financing purchases matters over a lifetime How simple systems can make managing policies easier and more intentional Why remembering your "why" matters when premiums come due How a family pool of money can support long-term family financial systems How windfalls and inheritances can become part of a broader generational conversation Why financial education needs to be passed to children along with financial resources How IBC can connect with financial resilience, succession planning, and long-term stewardship for Canadian farm and ranch families Whether you're already practicing IBC and have become a little disengaged, or you're just beginning to explore a different way of thinking about money, this episode is a reminder that The Infinite Banking Concept® is not something you simply own. It's ...

  • Ep. 117 - Think Long-Term: Building Your Warehouse of Wealth with Dividend-Paying Whole Life Insurance
    2026/08/13

What if the biggest shift you need to make with your money isn't about finding a better investment—but learning to think longer term?

In Episode 117 of the Win-EH Podcast, Lacy Rowan continues her walk through R. Nelson Nash's Building Your Warehouse of Wealth, diving into Chapter 2 and one of Nelson's most important ideas: "How you think is everything. Most people don't think long range."

In a world built around instant gratification, Nelson challenges us to look at dividend-paying whole life insurance differently—not based solely on what a policy does today, but on what it can become over 10, 20, 30 years and beyond.

Lacy explores Nelson's own 52-year-old whole life policy, his realization that he could use dividends to purchase paid-up additional insurance, and how building a readily accessible pool of capital changed the opportunities available to him. She also discusses the capitalization phase of Infinite Banking and why patience in the early years can create greater financial flexibility and self-sufficiency later.

The conversation goes beyond life insurance. It's about building a financial system that puts you in greater control of your capital—so when an opportunity to buy land, equipment, cattle, or invest in your business appears, you have options. As Nash explained, having money safe and available doesn't take away your options; it gives you more of them.

Lacy also shares one of the most thought-provoking questions from the chapter: What might have happened if Nelson had directed more of his available income toward building his whole life system instead of sending part of it elsewhere? His reflection illustrates why understanding the possibilities of a properly designed policy—and giving it time to capitalize—matters.

If you already have an Infinite Banking policy but have lost some of your excitement or direction, this episode is a reminder to reconnect with why you started. And if you're brand new to the concept, it offers another look at what it means to build your own "warehouse of wealth."

It takes time. It takes patience. But the goal is bigger than a life insurance policy.

It's about building a financial foundation, creating generational wealth, keeping more control within your family, and making the bank Plan B.

  • Ep. 116 - Insurable Interest 101: The Farm Family Insurance Gap Nobody Talks About
    2026/08/06

Insurable interest means you would suffer a real financial or personal loss if a specific person passed away — it's the requirement every life insurance company uses to decide who you're allowed to insure. In this episode of the Win-EH Podcast, Ranch Your Way hosts Winnie Lau and Lacy Rowan break down exactly who qualifies as an insurable interest — parents, spouses, business partners, children, and even silent investors — and why so many Canadian farm, ranch, and business-owning families wait too long to act on it.

Lacy shares her own story of becoming temporarily uninsurable after a cancer diagnosis, and why "we'll get to it eventually" is one of the most expensive sentences a family can say. Winnie connects the topic to The Infinite Banking Concept®, showing how permanent, dividend-paying whole life insurance isn't just protection for a future death — it's a living tool for building a family pool of money you can access for decades to come.

This episode is for Canadian ranch and farm families navigating succession, business partners with informal financial ties, spouses evaluating what a lost income would mean, and stay-at-home parents whose unpaid work carries real financial value. You'll learn how to identify who your insurable interests are, why the window to qualify for coverage can close without warning, and how The Infinite Banking Concept® turns that protection into financial resilience you can use today.
