  • The Real Life Chucky {AKA Robert the Doll}
    2025/11/05

    Welcome or welcome back to Wicked, Weird, and Grim, your number one podcast for a trip through the history of the odd, haunting, and mystifying. On today's episode, we dive deep into Caroline’s newest best friend til death who was the inspiration behind the movie Chucky: Robert the doll.

    Listen as we discuss Caroline’s trip to Key West to see Robert “in the flesh” (fabric?), the hijinks that occur at the museum with guests and workers alike, and the legacy Robert has left on the surrounding area. We also discuss the history behind Robert’s original owner and whom he was passed onto upon this owner’s death, as well as how famous Robert has become with crazy cameos of Kim Kardashian, President Bush, and 13 year olds running haunted doll instagrams. You won’t wanna miss this one - it’s perfectly our brand of crazy. No bloopers this episode because we actually managed to keep it together for once — who would’ve thought?

    2025/10/22

    Welcome or welcome back to Wicked, Weird, and Grim, your number one podcast for a trip through the history of the odd, haunting, and mystifying. On today's episode, we dive deep into one of Ara's favorite subjects: the Library of Alexandria. Listen as we discuss the incorrect yet persistent idea that the Library was destroyed in one fell swoop and instead give mention to the multitude of mishaps that led to the library's ultimate destruction. We then cover some of the craziest conspiracies involving the library, its prolific contents, and its lasting legacy. We then give a little tease one of our future episodes concerning another library ridden with perhaps even more conspiracy theories.

  • Tiniest Serial Killer in South Carolina {AKA Donald Henry "PeeWee" Gaskins}
    2025/07/16

    CONTENT WARNING: Extreme violence, sexual assault, child abuse, child neglect, infanticide, statutory assault, and attempted suicide.

    Welcome or welcome back to Wicked, Weird, and Grim, your number one podcast for a trip through the history of the odd, haunting, and mystifying. On today's episode, thanks to one of our Facebook recommendations, we discuss the gruesome true crime case of Donald Henry Gaskins or "PeeWee" Gaskins, the most notorious serial killer to hail from our great neighboring state of South Carolina. Known for his short stature and underweight frame, this tiny serial killer might have been a small man, but he had a big body count. We hope you find this case as fascinating as we did and that it's just as new to you as it was to us! It's hard to find serial killers that we (mainly Caroline) don't already know, so we were especially intrigued by Gaskins. Stick around at the end to hear our infamous bloopers.

  • Part 2: Luring Men to Their Deaths? Smells Fishy {AKA Mermaids}
    2025/06/11

    Welcome or welcome back to Wicked, Weird, and Grim, your number one podcast for a trip through the history of the odd, haunting, and mystifying.

    On today's episode we dive deep to talk about a particular obsession of ours....mermaids. We're so obsessed with these creatures as grown women that we've had to split this podcast into two parts due to how much we yapped. This week's episode is all about the sightings of mermaids globally and historically - from 1492 to today. These fishy, aquatic entities bewitch and bemuse us, and we can't wait to dive deep once more again into discussing them with you all.

  • The Lizard Man and the Button King (AKA Bishopville, South Carolina)
    2025/05/01

    Today we take you on a very weird (not so wicked or grim) adventure in the tiny town of Bishopville, South Carolina. From a lizard swamp cryptid scare (tourism life hack?) to an old man who self-proclaimed himself the Button King and left a museum of randomly decorated items with hundreds of thousands of buttons decorating them, this small town sure does have a lot of personality for only being home to ~3,000 people, give or take. Join us as we discuss this overly-roided lizard, his hijinks revolving automobiles, and how his ass compares to the Mothman’s). We even manage to work in a lizard-y song, which is just sooo quintessentially us. Get ready to get Wicked, Weird, and Grim with us to unravel the mystery of the Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp and discuss the even cuter Button King. Stick around at the end to hear our infamous bloopers.

  • Ship Happens: The Titanic Episode (AKA the RMS Titanic, Molly Brown, the Unlucky Mummy, and the House of Lions)
    2025/04/17

    {Originally uploaded on the anniversary of the Titanic sinking, April 15th, but due to technical difficulties was reuploaded on the 17th}

    In this episode, we cover enough topics to make your head spin in penance for our hiatus. From unsinkable ships (spoiler alert, it sinks!) to respectable heroines to cursed mummies to haunted houses, this episode is sure to please. Ara describes her recent visit to the Titanic Museum in Belfast, Northern Ireland and how informative and fascinating it was. While the Titanic is our main overarching theme, we encompass and incorporate three more that are just as closely tied. Listen to us vividly recount and gush over James Cameron's Titanic movie, praise the heroic efforts of rescuers, and discuss class hierarchies and how the Titanic is an apt metaphor for the social, economic, and political landscape of contemporary America. Stick around at the end for our infamous bloopers (a whole year's worth of antics in this one!).
