You Don't Have to Go to War With Yourself to Change Your Life

What if the part of you that keeps getting in the way of your goals isn't actually your enemy?

In this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of my Self-Love Parts Work approach to lasting change—the process I use when someone comes to me wanting to change a pattern that they've struggled to change on their own.

Rather than starting with discipline, shame, or trying to force the unwanted behavior to disappear, we begin by asking a different question:

Why does this pattern make sense?

From there, we move through a process of creating safety, understanding the protective parts behind the pattern, reconnecting with desire and pleasure, creating supportive structures and rituals, integrating a new relationship with yourself, and finally embodying the change in your actual life.

I'll walk you through what this progression can look like over a 4–6 week coaching journey—and why I believe sustainable change doesn't require you to fight, control, or exile the parts of yourself you've been trying so hard to change.

Because the goal isn't to become better at forcing yourself to do what you're "supposed" to do.

It's to build a relationship with yourself in which the life you're trying to create becomes something you can move toward with yourself, rather than against yourself.

In this episode, we'll explore:

  • Why I start with safety rather than behavior change

  • How to uncover what a problematic pattern is actually trying to do for you

  • Why pleasure can be a more powerful catalyst for change than punishment

  • How parts work can transform your relationship with your inner critic and other protective parts

  • The role of hypnosis, ritual, nervous-system regulation, and practical habit design

  • How subtle changes in self-talk can signal profound internal change

  • Why future pacing helps us take new patterns into real life

  • What I mean by embodied change

  • And why I don't believe you have to hate yourself into becoming someone new

If you've been trying to change something for a long time and are exhausted from fighting yourself, this episode is for you.
