Have you ever wished God would just hand you the map?
You want to know what comes next. Which decision is right? Where the road is leading. What God's plan is for your life. But what if God rarely gives us enough light for the whole journey?
In this episode of This Way, we walk with Israel through the wilderness in Exodus 13:17–22, where God deliberately leads His people along a longer road. He doesn't give them a complete itinerary. He gives them His presence—a cloud by day and fire by night—and asks them to follow.
We'll explore what it means to trust God when the future is uncertain, discern God's direction one step at a time, and learn to recognize the difference between wanting God's presence and demanding God's roadmap.
I'll also share a story from a pre-dawn mountain hike in Banff, where six students and I discovered that sometimes you really do have only enough light for the next few feet. We'll consider the remarkable survival story of Ernest Shackleton's Endurance expedition and what it teaches us about taking the next faithful step.
And we'll return to a verse that became especially meaningful to my friend Sheri: "Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path." — Psalm 119:105
Maybe you're asking God to show you the next ten years.
Maybe He's inviting you to trust Him with today.
Key Scriptures: Exodus 13:17–22; Psalm 119:105; John 8:12.
