Send us your thoughts!
You have spent your whole career helping other people calm down. So why does sitting still for five minutes feel like crawling out of your skin?
Maybe you reach for something sweet at nine at night. Maybe you punish yourself at the gym the next morning to make up for it. Maybe everyone around you thinks you have it together, because from the outside, you do. Nobody sees what's going on inside. Nobody sees the four candy bars in a row.
This podcast is for women healers over 50 navigating burnout and compassion fatigue who want nervous-system-informed insight into exhaustion, cognitive fog, identity loss, purpose erosion, and embodied recovery so they can move from survival into clarity, stability, and restoration.
This week I sit down with Tania, host of Menopause Made Easy with Tania and author of Cookie Dough in the Dark. She has been a personal trainer for over 35 years, and she's also a Pilates instructor and a nutrition and behavioral change coach. For three decades, Tania used sugar to soothe a nervous system nobody ever taught her how to regulate. She looked fit and she was falling apart. What finally broke the cycle wasn't another diet or a harder workout. It was surrender, curiosity, and a foam roller.
In this conversation you'll hear:
- Why your body can get chemically hooked on rushing, and why slowing down feels uncomfortable at first. That discomfort is a new pathway forming. It isn't failure.
- How shame becomes a hiding place: the guilt after the binge distracts you from the feeling you never knew how to process in the first place.
- Tania's simple foam roller practice, which is lying along your spine and rocking slowly with your breath, plus a foot roll you can do anywhere.
- A hands-on-the-belly breathing practice that speaks to the root center, where body safety lives.
- Why play belongs in burnout recovery, and how it wakes up the sacral center we've buried under decades of seriousness.
- The "one little thing" approach for the days you're too depleted to move at all.
- Why filling your cup isn't selfish. It's how you stop needing to get sick before you give yourself permission to rest.
I also share my own history with an eating disorder, and what happened the first time I asked a doctor for help. It was three more years before I asked again. If you've ever been shamed out of reaching for support, this one's for you.
If this episode spoke to you, share it with a woman who needs to hear it.

Stop trying to "Self-Care" your way out of a physiological crisis.
If bubble baths and deep breathing actually fixed compassion fatigue, you wouldn't still be staring at the ceiling at 2:00 AM. Your burnout isn't an attitude problem, it's a nervous system pattern.
