Why should we obey God when obedience makes life harder? What if we're doing what's right but don't see any results? And what if the people around us aren't obeying God either?

In this conversation, we process Jesus' teaching about the wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7:24–27. Both heard His words—but only one acted on them. The difference wasn't simply what they knew. It was what they did with what they heard.

• Why do people who disobey God sometimes seem to succeed?
• If I'm already saved, why do I still need to obey?
• How do I keep obeying when I don't see results?
• What if I feel like God has abandoned me?
• Why should I obey when people around me don't practice what they preach?
• How should Christians respond to authority?

One truth kept coming back throughout our conversation:

Our obedience should not depend on our circumstances, our feelings, other people's behavior, or the results we see. We obey because we love God and desire to please Him.

Obedience isn't always easy. But when the storms come, Jesus reminds us that the wise person doesn't merely hear His Word—he builds his life upon it.
