What happens when everything is actually going well… but part of you is still waiting for something to go wrong?
In this solo episode of The Self Help Show, Gina-Margaret Tiger explores that strange emotional space where life can be calm, exciting, even beautiful yet internally, there is still a feeling that something needs to be fixed, prepared for, or worried about.
This episode is a personal reflection on nervous system regulation, emotional states, mindset, faith, free will, and learning how to remain in peace when peace itself feels unfamiliar.
Gina asks an important question:
Are we really regulating the nervous system — or does everything ultimately begin with the mind?
In this episode:
- Why you can feel uneasy even when nothing is wrong
- Why some of us become so accustomed to pressure that peace can feel unfamiliar
- The habit of scanning your life for problems
- Nervous system regulation in simple, everyday language
- The relationship between your mind, emotions, and internal state
- Why old emotional cycles can try to repeat themselves
- Faith, free will, and remembering who you are
- Why happiness, love, joy, and peace require conscious maintenance
- The difference between what Gina describes as a “hell emotional state” and a “heavenly emotional state”
- Why you should allow yourself to fully enjoy good news
- Choosing not to abandon peace simply because part of you expects something to go wrong
One of the central ideas in this episode is that when you have lived under pressure for a long time, peace can initially feel unfamiliar.
Gina describes it simply:
If you have become accustomed to hell, heaven can feel strange at first.
The work then becomes learning to stay there — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually — rather than unconsciously returning to a state that simply feels more familiar.
So when the job comes through, the project is confirmed, the funding arrives, the support appears, or life simply feels good:
Stay there. Rejoice in it. Immerse yourself in it.
You do not have to search for a problem simply because nothing is currently wrong.
If this episode speaks to you, share it with someone who may need the reminder that they are allowed to experience peace without preparing for its disappearance.
