Tim and Christian open episode four of season three of Mentoring Christian Men Worldwide (the “Why Can’t I?” series) to address why Christians can’t live with “one foot in the world and one foot with Jesus” while still expecting a deep relationship with Him.
Basing their conversation in John 15:18–19, they explain that following Christ makes believers counter-cultural and often disliked, but the goal is faithfulness, not being seen as cool.
They also discuss the desire for acceptance, the conviction of the Holy Spirit, and how God’s standards lead to a better reward and peace. Tim shares a street-ministry story where he refused to enter a strip club to seem relevant, and Christian shares an example of a man setting a boundary to quit drinking for his marriage, witness, and well-being, emphasizing that standing firm doesn’t require being rude.
