Who was Louiza Fox—and why do people believe her ghost still haunts Egypt Valley?
For the first-ever Wacky Wednesday edition of Unsanctioned Chaos, Jason and JR explore one of Belmont County’s most tragic stories. In 1869, 13-year-old Louiza Fox was murdered by Thomas Carr near what is now Egypt Valley, Ohio.
Her death was real—but the story didn’t end there.
Visitors have reported seeing Louiza’s spirit near Starkey Road and her grave in Salem Cemetery. Egypt Valley lore also includes mysterious hellhounds, a vanishing house illuminated by seven red candles and a cemetery challenge said to make people invisible.
The episode begins with a leg cramp, malfunctioning buttons and the embarrassing discovery that Susie gave us an Ohio Man story we had already covered. Welcome to Wacky Wednesday.
