I went to prison.

But this story isn't just about mine.

Because some prisons don't have bars.

Some look like relationships you can't seem to leave.

Some look like needing everybody's approval.
Some look like being strong because you don't know how to fall apart.
Some look like shame.
Fear.
Guilt.
Addiction.
People-pleasing.
A past you escaped physically... but still live inside emotionally.

My gate eventually opened.

Maybe yours never had a gate.

The Long Way Home isn't just the story of how I came home.

It's about the prisons we carry with us...

and the long road back to the person we were before we learned how to survive.

So while you're listening to my story, don't just ask:

“What happened to her?”

Ask yourself:

“What am I still trying to get free from?” 💜

We found the pain.

We followed it to the source.

We got to the root.

Now comes the part nobody really wants to talk about:

What if it has to come out?

In Part 2 of The Toothache, we move from awareness to extraction—and discover that knowing what's hurting us isn't the same as being willing to release it.

Because sometimes we're attached to the very thing we're asking God to heal us from.

And when it's finally removed?

There's a hole.

An empty place where a relationship, habit, identity, coping mechanism—or old version of ourselves—used to live.

And empty can make us panic.

So we rush to fill it.

Another relationship.

Another distraction.

Another audience.

Another escape.

But maybe the hole isn't asking to be filled.

Maybe it's asking to be healed.

This episode is about extraction, detachment, protecting the empty place, resisting the urge to go back—and trusting God long enough to discover that an empty space isn't always evidence of loss.

Sometimes...

it's evidence that the infection doesn't live there anymore.

A tooth starts hurting.

At first, you ignore it.

Then you adjust.

You stop chewing on that side. You avoid certain foods. You take something for the pain.

And eventually, you've rearranged your life around one hurting place.

What if we've done the same thing emotionally?

What if some of what we've called healing was really just learning which side to chew on?

In Part 1 of The Toothache, we look beneath the pain.

Because pain isn't always the problem.

Sometimes pain is the messenger saying:

“Look here.”

The anger.

The rejection.

The people-pleasing.

The need to be needed.

The thing you keep returning to.

The place that still throbs when something touches it.

Maybe instead of asking God only to make the pain stop, it's time to ask:

“What is this pain pointing to?”

Because behavior can tell us where the pain went.

But pain can sometimes tell us where the wound is.

And once we've found it...

it's time to get to the root.
