By October, the question is no longer just, “Was that a hard day?”
It becomes:
“Is this starting to look like a pattern?”
By this point in the school year, families often have enough information to begin connecting the dots—homework struggles, changes in behavior, vague progress reports, inconsistent supports, growing anxiety, increasing dependence, or new areas of need.
In this episode of The Whole Child Advocate, Dominique goes beyond simply identifying red flags and helps parents understand what those concerns may be telling them together.
You’ll learn how to ask:
Are these really separate problems—or could they share the same root?
Is the struggle happening in one class, one setting, or everywhere?
What changed since the beginning of the year?
Is this an implementation problem?
Is the support happening but simply not effective enough?
Has your child developed a new or changing need?
Or are you dealing with an information gap and need more data before deciding what comes next?
You’ll also hear why it’s important to look for convergence—when different sources of information begin pointing in the same direction.
Because the goal isn’t to collect evidence against the school.
It’s to build understanding of the child.
