September is shaping up to be a busy one in Frome, and we’ve packed plenty into this month’s When in Frome.

We meet the campaigners fighting to save the much-loved Horse & Groom at East Woodlands, Daisy steps back in time with local historian David Lassman to uncover the stories behind some fascinating old photos of Frome and Sonia heads to 42 Acres to hear about a four-day gathering exploring human connection to the earth.

There’s plenty of culture too, as we look ahead to the new Consider the Wondrous literary festival, celebrate 40 years of Black Swan Arts and hear about a very special classical music festival coming to Frome and Mells.

Daisy discovers a new place to relax and recharge at The Retreat. And things get competitive as Daisy and Sonia take on the Charity Shop Challenge, with just £20 each and half an hour to find the best second-hand outfit in Frome.

Plus, Becky joins Daisy for the Fabulous Frome Forecast - your what's on guide to everything to see and do in Frome this September. She also has some very exciting news: the first ever Fabulous Frome magazine is about to hit the streets.

It really is shaping up to be A September to Remember.

In the August edition of When in Frome, Makers and Shakers, we celebrate the creative people and community champions helping to shape Frome’s future.

We begin with the Shakers. Hear the latest from Mayday Saxonvale and the community campaign transforming one of Frome’s biggest regeneration projects. Daisy meets Andy Harding to discover the vision behind Communa, a new hospitality hub for creativity, wellbeing and connection in the heart of the town. We explore the remarkable legacy of pioneering photographer and human rights activist Alice Seeley Harris through a fascinating exhibition at Frome Museum. Becky shares the story behind a new women’s group at The Good Heart, and Daisy meets our August Local Legend, Sue Paxton, whose charity The Pod has transformed the lives of children and young people with additional needs and their families.

Then it’s time to celebrate the Makers. Sonia catches up with Frome street artist Nadia van Kampen (aka Inkblot), who tells us about an exciting new creative project for local teenagers. She also takes on her latest challenge by trying her hand at tattoo artistry at Black Moon Tattoos, before Daisy visits master bookbinder Kate Holland who opens the door to the ancient craft of bookbinding.

There’s also a trip to the Frome FM Summer Fundraiser to soak up the atmosphere and hear why community radio matters so much, and finally Becky rounds up some of the best events happening in and around Frome this August.

Join us for another packed edition of When in Frome, celebrating the makers, the shakers, and the people making Frome such a vibrant place to live, create and belong.
