Grief doesn’t only live in the mind. It can affect the body, the nervous system, our energy, sleep, appetite, concentration and even the way we experience the world around us.
In this episode of Mind-Body Conversations, Lisa and Elizabeth explore grief through two different but complementary lenses: psychiatry and functional medicine alongside psychotherapy, trauma-informed care and mind-body healing.
We talk about the ways grief can sometimes look and feel like depression, where the two can overlap and why understanding the root of someone’s symptoms matters.
Not every season of sadness means the same thing. Loss can take many forms and grief doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.
Together, we explore what happens in the mind and body when we experience loss, the importance of looking at the whole person and how we can begin to move through grief without rushing, suppressing or pathologizing the experience.
