AI can save procurement teams time. But what happens to that time next?
In Episode 2 of Procurement at AI Speed, I look at the difference between releasing capacity and actually turning that capacity into a better business outcome.
Using an example from BCG’s research on technology procurement, I explore what can happen when AI makes an individual task faster but the wider procurement process — approvals, decisions, negotiation preparation and priorities — doesn’t change with it.
The episode asks a practical question:
If an AI initiative reports thousands of hours saved, what did those hours become?
I also explore why capacity value isn’t automatically financial ROI, and three things every significant AI use case should make clear:
• Where will the freed-up time go? • Who owns the outcome? • What evidence will tell us it actually happened?
The bigger question:
Who owns turning the time AI saves into an outcome we can actually see?
