Are you keeping score in your marriage? “I did this, so you should do that.” “I apologized last time.” “I always do more.” “You never…” Even when we never say it out loud, keeping score can quietly turn a husband and wife into competitors instead of partners.

In this episode of Still Holding Hands, Tim and Chris Peterson tackle one of the most common marriage traps: trying to win against each other instead of learning how to win together.

Marriage isn't about who is right, who gives more, who apologizes first, or who gets the last word. It's about becoming one, serving one another, protecting your connection, and facing life's challenges as a team.

In a Christ-centered marriage, there shouldn't be a husband's scoreboard and a wife's scoreboard. There should be one team, one covenant, and one goal: to build a marriage that honors God.

• Ask each other "What can I do to help our team win?"
  • Practical acts of service
• Have a daily team meeting
  • Ask "Where did we win as a team today?"
  • Ask "Where did we struggle as a team today?"
  • Ask "What can we do tomorrow to get closer?"
• Conclude the team meeting holding hands & praying together:

  "Lord, help us remember that we are not opponents, but we are partners, we are teammates. Teach us to love, serve, forgive & pursue oneness in our marriage. Help us to stop keeping score, because you don’t keep score with us. Help us to build something that brings honor to you in our marriage. In Jesus Name, Amen."
