What's The Gift is a coaching and conversation podcast hosted by mindset coach, Mike Oglesbee, for people who are ready to stop seeing their struggles as proof that something is wrong and start using them as a path to something greater.

Each week, Mike coaches guests through real struggles in real time, helping them uncover the deeper issue beneath the problem, shift the way they see it, and identify the gift within it. Because pain is not the end of the story. More often than not, it is the doorway.

This show is for people who look capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, reactive, or quietly frustrated on the inside. The ones who have done the work, read the books, chased the answers, and still know there is something deeper to unlock.

Along with these live coaching sessions, Mike also sits down with successful and insightful guests to explore how they moved through adversity, found meaning in their hardest moments, and used life’s challenges to build something stronger, wiser, and more aligned.

If you are tired of only trying to escape your struggles and you are ready to learn how to use them, this podcast will help you reclaim your power, shift your perspective, and become more of who you were meant to be.

Life is always helping you. Your job is to find out how.

Welcome to What's The Gift.

  • Is Taking Care of Yourself Selfish or Necessary? | #3
    2026/07/28

Chris Burns is deeply committed to showing up for his wife, his family, and the people he loves. But somewhere along the way, that commitment turned into a belief that taking time for himself was selfish.

In this episode of What’s The Gift, Mike Oglesbee helps Chris examine the cycle created by constantly putting everyone else first. When Chris neglects his own needs, he experiences burnout, isolation, procrastination, frustration, and guilt, ultimately affecting the very relationships he is trying to protect.

Together, Mike and Chris explore a powerful shift in perspective: taking care of yourself does not take something away from the people you love. It allows you to give them the healthiest, happiest, and most present version of yourself.

Chris also opens up about his struggle to slow down, his fear of falling behind, and the realization that work has become one of the only ways he knows how to define himself. Mike challenges him to make self-care non-negotiable, face the uncomfortable emotions that arise when old habits return, and use those moments as opportunities to become the person he wants to be.

This conversation is a reminder that knowing what needs to change is not enough. Transformation happens when you choose to act differently in the moments when it would be easier to return to familiar patterns.

Because showing up for yourself is not selfish. It is necessary.

    In This Episode, You’ll Discover:
    • Why putting everyone else first can eventually hurt the people you love
    • How guilt can prevent you from taking care of yourself
    • The connection between burnout, frustration, and procrastination
    • Why self-care must become a non-negotiable habit
    • How to face uncomfortable emotions instead of running from them
    • Why your greatest struggles can become opportunities for growth
    • How becoming your best self allows you to better serve others

  • You Are Not a Failure as a Mother | #4
    2026/08/04

What happens when helping your child starts to cost you yourself? In this episode of What’s the Gift?, Michael works with Marielle, a mother struggling with guilt after setting a painful but necessary boundary with her adult son.

Marielle shares that her son has dealt with serious mental health challenges, including bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, psychosis, and suicidal ideation. For years, she has tried to help him by showing up, managing responsibilities, supporting him financially, and being available whenever he needed her.

But through the conversation, Michael helps her see the difference between helping someone and doing life for them. He challenges her to recognize that sacrificing herself has not created the healing or independence she hoped for. Instead, it has left her emotionally exhausted and needing support herself.

Michael reminds Marielle that making a hard decision does not make her a bad mother. In fact, choosing a new strategy because the old one has not worked is evidence of her love, courage, and commitment. The episode becomes a powerful conversation about guilt, self-abandonment, boundaries, and what it really means to help someone you love.

    In this episode:

    ● Why helping can turn into enabling

    ● The difference between supporting someone and doing life for them

    ● Why guilt does not always mean you did something wrong

    ● Why setting a boundary can feel like failure

    ● How self-sacrifice can become self-abandonment

    ● Why a parent’s health matters too

    ● How pain can become an opportunity to grow

    ● Why trying a new strategy does not make you a bad parent

    ● The power of declaring, “I am a good mother”

    ● Why taking care of yourself helps you become a better example

If you have ever felt guilty for setting a boundary with someone you love, this episode is a reminder that love does not require you to disappear. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is stop doing it all for someone else and become the example they need.

  • When You Stop Fighting with Daryl Dittmer | #2
    2026/07/21

What if the fight you keep having with life is really the fight you are having with yourself?

In this episode of What’s The Gift?, Mike Oglesbee sits down with Daryl Dittmer, a teacher of personal responsibility, discipline, and daily follow-through, for a powerful conversation about addiction, fear, surrender, responsibility, and learning how to stop fighting life.

Daryl shares how going through drug and alcohol treatment at 19 became one of the greatest gifts of his life, even though it felt horrible at the time. He opens up about the fear of being exposed, the pressure to appear tough, and the painful honesty required to face who he had

    become.

Together, Mike and Daryl explore how fear, avoidance, addiction, and the need for acceptance can pull a person away from who they truly want to be. Daryl explains how the 12 steps gave him a roadmap for living, how gratitude became his prayer, and why he no longer lives by goals, but by intentions.

This conversation is about owning your life, turning toward fear instead of running from it, and discovering that when you stop fighting, the fighting stops.

    In this episode:

    ● Why treatment at 19 became the greatest gift of Daryl’s life

    ● How fear of being exposed kept him stuck

    ● Why addiction became a way to escape reality and seek acceptance

    ● How the 12 steps became a roadmap for living

    ● Why gratitude became Daryl’s daily prayer

    ● The difference between goals and intentions

    ● What it means to stop fighting yourself

    ● Why owning your life is the first step toward freedom

If you have ever felt like you were running from yourself, fighting life, or waiting for something outside of you to change, this episode will help you see that the gift may be found in ownership, surrender, and doing the next right thing.
