    The Battle Is On Series: What's Actually at Stake

    You do not have to go to church to have skin in this game.

    This episode is for the person who loves America but is not sure the faith argument applies to them. The person who can feel that something is wrong but has not yet connected the dots. The person who is skeptical of religious arguments but cares deeply about freedom, about their children's future, and about the kind of country America is becoming.

    Tom Sears makes the case today that the removal of America's Christian foundation is not primarily a religious issue. It is a historical one. And history is not ambiguous about what happens when governments decide that human dignity does not come from God.

    The Soviet Union thought they were building a better world. So did Nazi Germany. So did Mao's China. So did the Khmer Rouge. Every one of them rejected the idea that rights come from God. Every one of them produced mass graves. That is not alarmism. That is the documented record of the 20th century. And it raises a question that almost nobody in the current debate is asking.

    The Battle Is On Series: Two Visions of America

    America is not having a political argument right now. It is having a foundational one. And those do not resolve the same way.

    For as long as most people can remember, the assumption has been that the battles playing out in American culture are just the normal back-and-forth of a diverse democracy. Left and right. Liberal and conservative. The pendulum swings, and eventually it swings back.

    That assumption is wrong. And understanding why it is wrong is the beginning of understanding everything else happening in this country right now.

    In Episode 2 of the Battle Is On series, Tom Sears lays out the two visions of America that are competing for the soul of the nation. Not two political platforms. Two completely different answers to the most foundational questions of human life. Where do rights come from. What is a human being. What holds a free society together. Two answers so different they cannot permanently coexist. Only one of them can win.

    Tom also addresses the hardest objection to America's Christian heritage head-on. The slavery argument. And he brings in the most powerful possible answer to it. Not a political argument. A historical one. Frederick Douglass was a man who had been enslaved and had every reason to reject the founding as fraudulent. He chose instead to wield the founding principles as the most powerful weapon against the injustice he had lived. His answer to Vision Two is the answer this episode is built around.
