The Dallas Cowboys are 2-3 through five games, and the pressure is mounting on head coach Brian Schottenheimer, defensive coordinator Christian Parker, and a struggling Cowboys defense. After another disappointing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas is making changes, but will they actually fix the problems holding this team back?

On this episode of The Landry Hat Podcast, we break down the Dallas Cowboys' decision to hire veteran NFL defensive coach Mike Pettine as a senior defensive assistant to help Christian Parker. We discuss Parker moving to the coaches' booth, Von Miller's comments defending the Cowboys coaching staff, and why missed tackles, poor gap discipline, and defensive execution might be bigger problems than the scheme itself.

We also take a closer look at Brian Schottenheimer's performance as the Cowboys head coach. With a 9-12-1 record, questionable game management, offensive inconsistencies, and continued struggles on defense and special teams, how much responsibility should Schottenheimer shoulder? We examine his similarities to former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett and whether Jerry Jones could be making the same mistake by sticking with a coach for too long.

Finally, we look ahead to the Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. With Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and the Cowboys offense capable of competing with anybody, Dallas still has a legitimate opportunity to turn its season around.

The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling, the New York Giants lead the NFC East, and the Washington Commanders haven't separated themselves. Despite everything that has gone wrong, the NFC East remains wide open.

Can the Cowboys fix their defense, improve their coaching decisions, and make a run at the NFC East title? Or are the same problems going to continue holding Dallas back?
