There are people with perfectly good podcast microphones sitting in closets right now. Sometimes more than one. They bought the gear, maybe even picked a name, and then stalled somewhere between “I want a podcast” and actually getting the thing out into the world. The equipment wasn’t the problem. They got stuck because buying a microphone is a much easier decision than figuring out what the podcast is supposed to do in their business.
That gap matters if you’re launching a podcast to support your marketing and sales efforts. You’re not looking for another content project to maintain indefinitely just because having a podcast sounds like a good idea. You need the show to help your prospective clients understand how you think, why your approach matters, and whether working with you makes sense for them. Without that kind of clarity, it’s very easy to build yourself an expensive hobby that also happens to come with a weekly deadline.
In this episode of The More Profitable Podcast, I’m walking through what you need to know before launching a podcast for your business and how to move from wanting a show to building one that can actually do useful work. We’ll talk about the decisions that need to happen before you start recording, why I want you thinking about a complete first season instead of committing yourself to episode 237 before episode one exists, and what needs to be in place for your podcast to support the sales work you’re already doing.
2:57 - Why your podcast needs a clear job in your business before you launch

9:20 - Defining the conversation you want to create and who that conversation is for
11:49 - Meeting prospective clients where they are when they first find your podcast
13:57 - Why your point of view gives listeners a reason to choose your show and keep coming back
16:29 - Why I want you to build a first podcast season instead of planning an endless weekly commitment
18:45 - What your first 12 episodes need to establish, answer, and demonstrate
24:59 - Connecting your podcast to one offer and the sales process you already have
28:08 - Moving from planning to launching and getting your first season out into the world
