On this episode of In the Making, I sit down with Coach Cabral Huff, my high school coach and now an assistant coach for North Florida men's basketball in Jacksonville.

Coach Huff's path has taken him through nearly every level of the game. North Florida head coach Bobby Kennen announced Huff as an assistant, calling him one of the most well-liked and respected coaches in the country and describing him as a teacher and a connector. Before that, he was an assistant at Newberry, and before Edward Waters he was head coach at NAIA Voorhees from 2020 to 2023. He also coached high school basketball in Atlanta where he won a state championship at Saint Francis High School and spent time at the Division 1 level at Georgia Southern. He was an assistant at Alcorn State, where the team made a big turnaround to finish second in the conference, and he was named Coach of the Year by several organizations in 2013 and 2014. He's a Morehouse graduate who became head coach at Edward Waters University, where he built his program around energy, effort, enthusiasm, and execution.

In this conversation we talk about:
🏀 His coaching journey, from high school to the college level
🧠 The skills it takes to be a successful coach
🔍 How he evaluates players and what he looks for
🎓 Leading programs, building culture, and developing young men
💬 Lessons learned along the way, and much more

If you're an athlete, a parent, or someone who wants to coach, this one is for you.
