Pastor Zack explores Jesus' radical command to "become like little children" if we want to understand God's kingdom, revealing how the qualities we abandoned growing up are exactly what Jesus wants us to reclaim.
Jesus repeats this command across all four gospels: "Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." It's not about being childish (selfish, impulsive), but childlike possessing humility, trust, wonder, curiosity, dependence, and teachability.
As we grow up, we lose these qualities. We trade dependence for self-sufficiency, trust for suspicion, wonder for boredom, humility for status. We fill ourselves with pride and knowledge, thinking we can control our world.
Jesus is calling us back. He wants us to hit reset, to recognize our dependence on God, trust Him like a child trusts their father, reclaim wonder, and approach Him with the simple faith of "Our Father in heaven" (Abba-Daddy).
The challenge: What childlike qualities have you abandoned that Jesus is calling you to reclaim today?
