Ruth embodies four qualities of virtue: presence (showing up for others), identification (entering into their pain), sacrifice (giving up her own future), and prioritization (making others more important than herself). Her story reveals that virtue isn't about perfection, it's about being willing to be uncomfortable for the sake of someone you love.
From Naomi's loss and bitterness to Ruth's radical commitment ("Wherever you go, I will go. Your God will be my God"), we see what virtue looks like. And it changed everything, Ruth became the grandmother of King David and an ancestor of Jesus.
The challenge: Who is your "Naomi"? Who in your sphere of influence needs someone to be present, to sacrifice, and to make them feel valued? Jesus did exactly that for us. Today, we're invited to do the same for others.
