What does it actually mean when the Bible calls a wife her husband’s “helper” or “help meet”?
For years, I believed being a good Christian wife meant supporting my husband by becoming less concerned with my own preferences, opinions and desires. I thought “dying to self” meant disappearing into his life.
But is that what God intended?
In this episode of The Worthy Wife Podcast, we look at the Hebrew words ezer kenegdo from Genesis 2:18 and what they tell us about the role of a wife in marriage.
I share how my own understanding of being a “helper” affected my marriage, why having a voice doesn't make you a bad or unsubmissive wife, and why following the Holy Spirit may sometimes mean being quiet—and sometimes mean speaking up.
If you've ever wondered whether disagreeing with your husband, expressing an opinion, or standing your ground means you're failing at being a godly wife, this conversation is for you.
And it leads directly into the question we're tackling next:
Does God want me to endure this?
If you're ready to untangle what you've been taught about being a good wife from what God may actually be asking of you, I invite you to schedule a consultation with me.
