How we manage our resources doesn't just impact our current bank accounts; it shapes the next generation. In week four of What God Says About Your Money, Pastor JT turns the spotlight on parenting, stewardship, and legacy.
Looking closely at Biblical inheritance and instruction, we unpack a core reality for every parent, grandparent, and mentor: How we handle money today teaches our kids how to handle life tomorrow.
Teach Wisdom Before Wealth (Deuteronomy 6:6–7, Proverbs 22:6): A financial inheritance without a foundation of wisdom is a burden, not a blessing. Discipleship begins at home—we must model and speak God's truth into our kids' daily lives long before handing over assets.
Don’t Hand Them the Keys If They Don’t Know How to Drive (Proverbs 20:21): Proverbs warns that an inheritance gained too quickly at the beginning will not be blessed in the end. Entrusting resources to unready hands leads to destruction; stewardship must be learned step-by-step.
Callouses Build Character That Handouts Don’t (Proverbs 14:23): Hard work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty. Shielding kids from effort, work, and responsibility robs them of the grit and character needed to manage life well.
Your Today is Your Kids’ Tomorrow (2 Corinthians 12:14): Our children inherit more than our financial assets or debts—they inherit our spiritual priorities, habits, and attitudes toward money.
Pastor JT challenges us to take proactive, intentional steps with our families this week:
Your kids are learning about money from someone this week. Is it going to be you, or is it going to be the world? What is one practical financial truth you will start teaching them—in both word and example—this week?
Your kids will inherit whatever you build your life on. If you aren't building your life on Jesus and His principles, what foundation are you passing down to them?
