What if you've been living responsibly, faithfully even — but quietly below the purpose you were born for?
This is Part 1 of our new three-part series, RESET. Today's message invites you to press reset on your purpose. Not your habits, not your schedule — your purpose. The God-intended reason you are here.
We meet Moses: a man who survived a genocide, was raised in Pharaoh's palace, killed an Egyptian in an act of justice, fled into the wilderness, and spent decades as a shepherd in obscurity. He had built a safe, predictable life — a family, a flock, a routine. And then God interrupted him with a bush that would not stop burning.
Moses thought he was encountering a strange sight. He was actually encountering a disruption to the life he had settled for.
David D. Ireland, Ph.D. | Lead Pastor | Christ Church
In this message, we work through three questions every person must honestly face:
• What Am I LIVING FOR? — Moses was living for peace of mind — a life protected from Egypt's danger. But there is a difference between finding peace and creating enough distance from the problem you were meant to confront. What you are living for reveals whether your life is aligned with your purpose — or in need of a reset.
• What Is God INTERRUPTING? — The burning bush interrupted Moses' work, his identity ("shepherd tending another man's flock"), and his false sense of peace. God will disturb any comfort that keeps us disconnected from our assignment. Five signs your purpose may be off-course: survival mode, misaligned activity, underused gifts, a recurring burden, and divine disruption.
• What Is My ASSIGNMENT? — When God intends to address a need, He calls someone to participate in His answer. José Andrés, the Spanish-born American chef, traveled to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake asking: How can a chef help? That interruption gave birth to World Central Kitchen, which has now served over 500 million meals globally. The earthquake didn't give him a new gift — it revealed a new assignment for the gift he already had.
