This week, we’re diving into Whalefall, Brian Duffield’s survival thriller about a man who finds himself in the worst possible situation: swallowed alive by a giant sperm whale with just one hour of oxygen left. After diving off the California coast to search for his deceased father’s remains, Jay Gardiner must fight to escape the whale’s belly while confronting the complicated relationship he left behind.

With its bizarre premise, claustrophobic tension, and emotional father-son drama, Whalefall takes survival horror somewhere we definitely haven’t gone before. But does its wild concept deliver a genuinely gripping experience, or does the film get bogged down by flashbacks and sentimental drama when it should be keeping us on the edge of our seats?
