Close to the village of Walsingham in North Norfolk, six miles from the coast, Westgate Farm is a 350-acre arable farm on the historic Walsingham Estate. It grows barley, wheat and, come August, a field of pick-your-own sunflowers. A miniature steam train on the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway runs right through the land. In a wildflower meadow at its heart sit two safari tents, Owl's Nest and Foxley Lodge, kitted out to a standard that outdoes most hotels.
In today's episode, Molly sits down with Sophie Ollerenshaw, who came from a London marketing background and now shapes the guest side of a real working farm run by her partner Michael, the second generation of his family to manage it. From environmental stewardship and hedgerow management to home-cooked welcome hampers and the rhythm of the seasons, this is a conversation about diversifying a family farm thoughtfully and letting guests share in the life of the land rather than just visit it.
