West Virginia’s 2027 recruiting class is heating up as two elite guards, Micah Gordon and Javion Tyndale, prepare to announce their decisions this weekend—Gordon on Saturday, Tyndale on Monday. Tyndale, cousin of current WVU freshman Miles Sadler, dazzled at Nike EYBL and FIBA U18 America Cup, leading Canada to gold and earning MVP honors. Both players are highly coveted by WVU, but with Sadler potentially staying beyond one year, the coaching staff faces a tough choice: adding two undersized guards could strain depth in the Big 12. Gordon, the higher-rated recruit, may edge out Tyndale if he commits Saturday, forcing Tyndale toward another option. The goal? Build a roster with Amir Jenkins and a new guard ready to step in if Sadler leaves for the NBA—smart moves now to secure future success.

West Virginia’s Big 12 schedule is a rollercoaster of tests and opportunities — starting with a January showdown against Kansas, then diving into a grueling February road trip to Texas Tech, Baylor, and beyond. The final five games include brutal away matchups at Baylor and Cincinnati, but also home clashes with Houston and TCU that could define their season. Early on, they’ve got a chance to build momentum with winnable games against Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and even Utah. Can the Mountaineers turn this chaotic gauntlet into a breakout year?

West Virginia Athletics just locked down its coaching future with big contract extensions for Steve Sabins, Mark Kellogg, and Jen Greeny—three pillars of success across baseball, women’s basketball, and volleyball. Sabins led baseball to its first College World Series appearance with a stellar 91-33 record and two super regionals. Kellogg’s women’s hoops team has won 78 games in three years, hitting the NCAA Tournament every year and consistently ranking top 25. Greeny’s volleyball rebuild is already showing strong results, laying the groundwork for sustained growth. This move signals West Virginia’s serious commitment to keeping momentum alive across the board.
