Arthur "Buddy" Schumacher was just eight years old when he disappeared from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on July 24, 1925. Seven weeks later, his body was discovered near the Menomonee River. Nearly a century later, the case remains one of Wisconsin's oldest unsolved murders and one of the state's most haunting cold cases.
Why did someone murder an eight-year-old boy in 1925? Who was responsible, and why has the case never been solved?
In this episode of the Weird Wisconsin Podcast, I sit down with author Paul Hoffman, who spent years researching one of Wisconsin's oldest cold cases. We discuss the disappearance, investigation, suspects, and enduring mystery behind the death of Buddy Schumacher, the subject of his book, Murder in Wauwatosa: The Mysterious Death of Buddy Schumacher.
