Austin Gilroy is a physiologist who prides himself on his skepticism towards the occult. However, his friend Professor Wilson, a firm believer in psychical powers, is determined to change his mind. Inviting Austin to his home for a demonstration, Wilson introduces him to the enigmatic Miss Penclosa, a psychic who challenges everything Austin thought he knew. As the demonstration unfolds, Austin finds himself grappling with unsettling doubts about reality‚especially when Miss Penclosas influence pushes him to the brink of harming his fiance. The experience leaves Austin questioning not only his beliefs but the very nature of control and the supernatural. (summary by Carl V.)
