    2026/07/24

On this week's episode of WeeklyTrek, TrekCore's news podcast, host Alex Perry is joined by Star Trek Strange New Worlds' producing director Chris Fisher for a supplemental interview special.

Chris has been intimately involved in the entire production of Strange New Worlds. He has directed six episodes of the series, including "A Quality of Mercy," "Hegemony, Part II" and this week's "Valles Marineres," and was on set throughout the whole production run of the show. As a result, Chris has unique insights into the production of Strange New Worlds, and the show's forward leaning virtual production approach.

Alex talks to Chris about his Star Trek history prior to Strange New Worlds, the way the show was made, Chris's experiences directing some of the series' highest-rated episodes, and we dive deep into this week's season four premiere, "Valles Marineres." We also talk about Chris's book, The Producers' Guide to Virtual Production, which case studies his experiences on Strange New Worlds.

  • WeeklyTrek #308: What Amazon Canceling New Stargate Before Filming Means for Star Trek
    2026/06/05

On this week's episode of WeeklyTrek, TrekCore's news podcast, host Alex Perry reflects on the recent news that Amazon Studios has canceled the Stargate revival show they announced late last year, before filming even started, out of concerns that it would only appeal to the built in fanbase and not expand the franchise's appeal. What does that have to do with Star Trek? Alex thinks there's a vibe shift underway for legacy franchises with bult in fanbases, and you'll either hear thoughtful commentary on the current state of Star Trek or the beginning of a midlife crisis playing out in real time. Let me know which!
