Fall in Wyoming can flip overnight: one morning you’re out in a jacket at 39 degrees, the next you’re hoping the first frost holds off long enough to save the last tomatoes. We start with that on-the-ground reality in Hot Springs County, where the shorter days, dry conditions, and scattered rain shape everything from yard work to winter prep. We also talk about the kind of “Indian summer” afternoons Wyoming is famous for and why an “open winter” forecast can feel more worrying than comforting when moisture already feels scarce.

From there we bounce through the week’s Wyoming updates, including Cowboy football and a bizarre game moment when lightning forces a 45-minute delay. Then the tone turns serious as we talk about oil topping $100, supply disruptions overseas, and what that could mean for diesel and gas prices in a state built on distance. That naturally leads to electric vehicles, Tesla sticker shock, and the other side of the equation people forget: electricity rates rising too.

We lighten things up with a quick stop on the Wyoming Border Patrol AI videos and why a little humor can matter, then dig into the ongoing Hot Springs State Park controversy, including the Star Plunge purchase, structural concerns, and the loss of the outdoor soaking area at the state bathhouse. We also cover a rough year for black bears showing up closer to people, before pausing to remember the University of Wyoming cross country athletes lost 25 years ago on Highway 287. The closing history segment follows the life and death of Private Ralston Baker, a frontier soldier killed while escorting the mail near the Oregon Trail, and how his grave still tells a Wyoming story.
