Episode 316 – Sonya Achara This episode takes us deep into the work of rewiring the patterns that shape how we see ourselves and connect with others. Sonya Achara shares her own journey of being hard on herself and how learning to recognize subconscious patterns has helped her not only heal and grow, but also become better equipped to help others. Sonya explains her RECODE approach: Recognize the patterns, Explore what they are trying to protect, practice Compassion, Observe the pattern without allowing it to define you, Decide to make a new choice, and Embody that change by treating yourself with kindness. One of the biggest takeaways is learning that you are not your patterns—you can separate yourself from them and choose something different. Now living in San Diego, Sonya is putting the finishing touches on her book, focused on rewiring your thinking, finding yourself, and learning to regulate your nervous system. Then we turn up the music with Chris Turner, whose music has become a powerful outlet for healing and therapy. Through Label 22 and its nonprofit record label, Chris uses his music to help people process the noise and challenges of life. He also shares the excitement surrounding his upcoming album, Who I Am, and the importance of redemption, forgiveness, and letting go of the need to constantly prove yourself. Chris takes us behind three songs: 🎵 “Do It for the Country” – A deeply personal song inspired by his Marine experience and a fallen Marine he wanted to make sure would never be forgotten. 🎵 “Cowboy Like That” – A fun story inspired by the post-COVID cowboy trend—and the idea of being “all cowboy hat and no cattle.” 🎵 “Take You Out” – A hilarious and entertaining Waffle House story that turned into a song after Chris witnessed an unexpected scene involving a simple-looking guy and two beautiful women. From rewiring our minds to finding healing through music, this episode is full of honest stories, laughter, self-reflection, and reminders that sometimes the biggest change begins when we learn to be a little kinder to ourselves.
