A club no one wants to be in because the initiation is too big of a sacrifice: the loss of a child. Unthinkable. Unimaginable. Warrior Moms is local group in north Atlanta filled with strong, courageous, funny, and fiercely loving women who are surviving and thriving amidst horrific grief.

This podcast features Amy Durham and Michele Davis, two of the Warrior Moms, who will guide listeners through their grief journey. Every fourth or fifth episode will showcase another Warrior Mom, the trauma they endured, stories about their beloved child, and tips on how they get out of bed every day.

Each and every Warrior Moms' story is different, the children and the loss is different, but one thing they share is the decision to live. They have figured out how to live life putting one foot in the past and the other moving forward. Yes, it's beyond awful. Yes, it's hard. Yes, it's worth it. And yes, they say, you can survive child loss AND thrive.

Thank you so much for listening! We'd love to hear from you---what you would love to hear, what you like, what helped, etc. With love, Warrior Moms Michele & Amy

From a live Warrior Moms retreat in Georgia, we talk honestly about what the “lowest of low” really looks like after child loss, and what actually helps when you cannot get out of bed, cannot cook, cannot breathe, and the early wave of support has faded. Amy and Michele ask the OG Warrior Moms to answer questions from the retreat mamas. You'll hear real coping strategies from bereaved moms and families.

We also get into the question that blindsides parents in normal life: “How many children do you have?” We share the hard moments, the guilt, the scripts that work, and why telling the truth can be both painful and powerful. The conversation expands to surviving siblings and how differently they grieve, especially teens and young adults, and how we can offer love and therapy without pushing them to talk before they are ready.

Then we shift into practical “how-to” territory for anyone searching for child loss grief support in their own town. We walk through how Warrior Moms groups get started, how to use a consistent monthly rhythm, what a meeting can look like, and why a little structure can keep gatherings from becoming overwhelming. If you’ve been craving a community that understands bereavement without explanations, this will give you language, ideas, and a next step. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review so more grieving parents can find support.

  • Pam Burton: Trevor Jennings' story -- S3 Ep2
    2026/08/31

Thank you so much for listening! We'd love to hear from you---what you would love to hear, what you like, what helped, etc. With love, Warrior Moms Michele & Amy

A single pill can look harmless and still change everything. We’re joined by Pam Burton, one of our Warrior Moms, to honor her son Trevor and to say the quiet parts out loud about grief, love, and taking care of yourself.

Pam takes us from the funny, vivid stories of “Little Dude” into the moment every parent dread: the phone call that told her Trevor was gone. She explains how he took what he thought was a Percocet for back pain while moving at college, only to learn it was a fake pill containing enough fentanyl to kill thirteen people. We talk about the shock, anger, numbness, and how support can feel both lifesaving and impossible to receive in those first days.

So, who was Trevor? He was the kind of kid who lit up a room, played football like he had no fear, and made sure nobody got left out.

What stays with us most is Trevor’s legacy of “luv.” Pam shares how he got his friends saying “I love you” on calls and texts, and how that simple practice became a lifelong marker of who he was.

We also dig into what helps when you feel yourself disappearing inside grief: talking about your child often, welcoming the stories and videos people send, building small daily rituals, leaning on community, and choosing your next right step even when you don’t feel ready.

  • S3 Ep1: Warrior Moms Reintroduced
    2026/08/25

Thank you so much for listening! We'd love to hear from you---what you would love to hear, what you like, what helped, etc. With love, Warrior Moms Michele & Amy

Grief can make you feel like you’re the only mother on earth carrying this kind of silence, even when you’re surrounded by people who love you. We’re Amy Durham and Michele Davis, and we’re back for season three of Warrior Moms because we know what it’s like to lose a child and still have to wake up, feed the dog, show up for family, and somehow keep breathing.

There are so many new listeners since we started, so we wanted to reintroduce who we are and our stories of loss and love.

Amy lost her son Alec seven years ago after years of addiction and a hard-won season of sobriety. Michele lost her son Carter ten years ago, murdered just before his senior year, in a moment that shattered a community and rewrote everything that came after.

We also share the heart of what Warrior Moms means to us with the superhero cape being our symbol. Some days we wear it and function like superheroes, amazed at the giant feats we've accomplished while desperately missing our child. Other days it becomes a blanket on the floor we wrap up in, and that’s not weakness, it’s grief.

We lean into our motto “feel the feels,” we talk about living in the and (joy and sorrow together), and why telling our children’s stories keeps their lives present.

You’ll also hear what we’ve built from this pain: our book Grieve Like a Mother, Survive Like a Warrior, our retreats and workshops, and our nonprofit support foundation that helps keep resources low cost or no cost for grieving moms.

If you’ve been searching for a child loss podcast, support for bereaved mothers, or real coping strategies for grief, you’re in the right place. Subscribe, share with someone who needs it, and leave a review so more moms can find this community.
