概要

"The true power of any empire lies within its people; not the palace walls. The emperor serves at the pleasure of the people, and the voice of the people must be heard"- Wallace Allen

Empire Talks Back is a public affairs and cultural commentary platform examining power, history, media, and the lived experience of Black and Brown communities in America and across the global diaspora.

Hosted and produced by Wallace Allen—veteran broadcaster, community leader, and publisher of Westside Story Newspaper—the show brings historical perspective, journalistic integrity, and community accountability to conversations often reduced to headlines and soundbites.

Each episode features thoughtful discussions with artists, educators, advocates, journalists, and civic leaders exploring the role of culture and media in shaping identity, policy, community, and the impact of grassroots leadership vs institutional power.

  • Trump, Iran, and the Cost of War: How Conflict Impacts American Soldiers | Farron Dozier (3-1-2026)
    2026/03/12
Originally aired on March 1, 2026

War decisions made in Washington can echo for generations — especially for the men and women who serve on the front lines. On this episode of Empire Talks Back, host Wallace Allen discusses the impact of U.S. military conflict with Iran and what those decisions mean for American troops.

Joining the conversation is Farron Dozier, a veteran with more than two decades of military service and host of The Farron Dozier Show. Drawing from his experience in the U.S. Army and his work advocating for veterans, Dozier speaks candidly about the realities soldiers face before, during, and after war. Together they examine:

    • The potential consequences of U.S. military escalation with Iran
    • What war means for the soldiers asked to fight it
    • The emotional and psychological “echo” of war after deployment
    • How military service members and veterans carry the lasting effects of combat

This conversation highlights the human side of foreign policy — the lives of the soldiers who must live with the consequences long after the headlines fade.

Empire Talks Back continues its tradition of tackling complex political and social issues through thoughtful dialogue and lived experience.

  • Reparations in America: Lineage, Justice, and the Path Forward | Chad Brown & Kellie Farrish (2-22-2026)
    2026/03/10
    (Originally aired February 22, 2026)

Reparations for the descendants of American slavery remains one of the most important and debated issues in the country today. What would real reparative justice look like — and how do we prove lineage and historical harm?

On this episode of Empire Talks Back, host Wallace Allen leads a powerful conversation on the history, politics, and future of reparations in America. Joining the discussion: Chad Brown, a leading reparations advocate in California and National Spokesperson for the Lineage Equity and Advancement Project (LEAP), shares insights on the growing movement for lineage-based reparations for Foundational Black Americans. Brown is also a board member of the Coalition for a Just and Equitable California and host of the YouTube podcast Politics In Black, where he explores Black American politics, culture, and policy. Also joining the conversation is Kellie Farrish, a professional genealogist whose work focuses on uncovering family histories tied to the system of American chattel slavery. Through genealogy, Farrish helps individuals trace their ancestral roots — whether descending from the enslaved or enslavers — to confront history, acknowledge truth, and begin the process of healing generational wounds.

    Together they discuss:
    • What reparations actually mean in policy terms
    • Why lineage documentation matters
    • The role of genealogy in uncovering truth and justice
    • California’s reparations movement and what it signals for the nation
    • How Americans can engage thoughtfully in the conversation

Empire Talks Back continues its tradition of civic dialogue by bringing together voices committed to truth, history, and solutions.
