  • Wednesday Challenge - Appreciate Favor
    2026/10/07

Do you see God’s favor in your life? Now, before you give me that polite nod, really think about it. Do you notice how things seem easier and calmer and more peaceful than the time in your life when you were turned away from God? Or have you become so accustomed to the smooth roads that you’ve forgotten who paved them? Let’s have a tough-love moment here. Life is hard. We struggle. We face bills that don’t match the bank account, relationships that feel like sandpaper, and health scares that keep us up at 2:00 AM. We live in a world that’s loud, chaotic, and frankly, quite exhausting. Often, when we’re in the thick of it, we start acting like spiritual orphans. We scramble, we worry, we try to muscle through on our own strength, and then we wonder why we’re miserable. Picture this: You’re driving home after a brutal day. Your boss was on your back, the kids are struggling at school, and you just found a new leak under the kitchen sink. You’re gripping the steering wheel so tight your knuckles are white. You’re rehearsing every frustration. But then, you realize you hit every green light on the way home. A stranger at the grocery store gave you their cart with a quarter already in it. A friend sends a text at the exact moment you felt like giving up, saying they were thinking of you. In our pride, we call that "luck." We call it "coincidence." We tell ourselves we just "caught a break." That’s a lie. That is the hand of God reachwednesing into your chaos to whisper, "I’m still here." If you recognize God’s favor in your life, and recognize you have not acknowledged Him in a while, this challenge is for you. Stop being ungrateful. God seeks an intimate and loving relationship with you. The fact that you recognize His favor indicates that you recognize His desire to show His love for you. Often, we receive His favor even when we don’t deserve it. Actually, we never deserve it. That’s what makes it grace. Can you think of something that happened recently that you know was not luck, but the hand of God? Maybe it was a door that closed to protect you, or a window that opened to provide for you. Whatever it was, it’s time to stop ignoring the Provider while you enjoy the provision. My challenge for you is to make time today, even if it is just a silent prayer in your mind right now, to thank God for His blessings. Thank Him for His boundless love. Thank Him for the favor He introduces into your life each day. God makes time to show you His love and all good relationships take two. Make time to connect with God today, and every day for the rest of your days. Join us this Friday @ 7pm Pacific, right here on this podcast as we explore the topic “Appreciate Favor”. Bless you.

  • Let's Discuss - Appreciate Favor
    2026/10/04

Hi, I'm Steve McDonald. Do you ever think to yourself: “I keep messing up, I know God doesn’t want me to do these things. I’m sure he is going to punish me by making things difficult.” It is a heavy weight to carry, isn’t it? That constant, nagging feeling that you’re walking on eggshells with the Creator of the universe. You might feel like your life is a series of one step forward and two steps back, and every time you slip, you’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop. You wonder if the challenges you’re facing today—the car trouble, the strained relationship, the lack of peace—are direct results of that one mistake you made last week or that habit you can’t seem to kick. You find yourself asking, "Is God done with me? Have I finally exhausted His patience?" I want you to know that you aren’t alone in those thoughts, but I also want to help you see past the fear that those questions create. Imagine you’re at work, and you’ve had a particularly stressful morning. You snapped at a coworker, or perhaps you let a small compromise in your integrity slide just to get the job done faster. As you drive home, the silence in the car feels loud with guilt. You start thinking that because of that moment, your whole weekend is going to be ruined by some stroke of "bad luck" sent from above as a lesson. Or maybe you’re lying awake at night, staring at the ceiling, replaying a conversation where you weren’t your best self, convinced that God is looking down with a clipboard, marking off your failures and withdrawing His favor. We’ve all been in that place where we mistake God’s holiness for a desire to see us fail, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The truth is God loves you no matter what you have done. He sees your heart and your true intentions. Yes, it is true, we will reap what we sow. If you pursue ungodly behavior with no intention of changing, that is unlikely to bring God’s favor into your life in the same way it would if you had a true desire to turn away from the world and toward God. But notice the distinction: God isn't looking for perfection; He is looking for direction. Favor isn't a reward for being perfect; it is the grace given to those who are seeking Him. When we pivot our hearts toward Him, we stop seeing life as a series of punishments and start seeing it as a journey of refinement. God wants you to have a joy-filled life, you need only decide to give your heart to Him to show you the way. He is waiting with open arms, not to push you away for your mess-ups, but to pull you closer so He can help you overcome them. Applying this doesn't require a massive lifestyle overhaul overnight. Today, I want to give you one simple, actionable step: The "Breath of Favor." The next time you feel that wave of guilt or the fear that you’ve "messed up" your standing with God, stop for ten seconds. Take a deep breath and simply say, "Lord, thank You that Your favor is not based on my performance, but on Your love. I give You my heart again right now." Use that moment to reset your mindset from fear to appreciation. By acknowledging His favor even when you feel undeserving, you open the door for His peace to guard your heart and guide your next steps. Curious to learn more?
