  • Surprised By A Stranger, Movies Alone, And Forgetting The Can Opener
    2026/09/02

It's just Wayne and Jesse this week on the Walking Rooted Podcast, back for stories, laughs, and a lesson on caring for people well after last episode's guest. Jesse tells the story of peeking into a stranger's car in the church parking lot — and getting startled right back. Wayne recaps a solo camping trip to Millersylvania State Park, including a hammock in the wind, a 98 sleep score, and the great chili-dog can-opener disaster.Along the way: pizza order name mishaps, a solo trip to see the "House of Worship" movie (with Darlene Zschech, Paul Baloche, and Michael W. Smith), and a reflection on C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity. Jesse closes out with a teaching from 1 Thessalonians 5:14 on the importance of "proper diagnosis" when caring for people — knowing when someone needs a warning, encouragement, or tender care.Walking Rooted is a podcast about telling stories, sharing about life, and talking about what God is doing in our lives. • Pastor Got Stung So Bad His Eyes Stopped Working | Walking Rooted 019
    2026/08/19

Beekeeper and pastor Tim Heifer joins Jesse and Wayne on the Walking Rooted podcast to share one of the wildest testimonies you'll hear this year. After a routine hive harvest went sideways, Tim ended up covered in stings — and by the next morning, his eyes were literally moving in opposite directions, leaving him with severe double vision. What followed was an ER visit, a diagnosis that left even doctors stumped, and a weekend of prayer that ended in a healing Tim still can't fully explain.

Along the way, Tim also shares stories from his years as a youth pastor, a wild moment involving a ground squirrel and a very bold prayer, and what it looks like to speak blessing over people even when you don't share a language. It's a conversation full of humor, honesty, and real stories of God showing up in unexpected ways.

  • This Is Why You Don’t Bet Wayne a Dollar
    2026/08/05

What happens when you bet Wayne a dollar? Apparently, you lose—and then have to mail him the dollar. In this episode of Walking Rooted, Wayne and Jesse catch up after a chaotic stretch of camping, traveling, canceled flights, questionable “resorts,” tubing, and a few stories that probably should have stayed off the record. They also discuss why Wayne might be getting a little too comfortable, and why learning to embrace a little discomfort might actually be good for us.

But underneath all the stories and laughter, there’s a deeper conversation about following Jesus. Jesse reflects on Psalm 23 and what it means for God’s rod and staff to comfort us—not simply through correction, but through His guidance and direction. Wayne also reflects on Jesus’ teaching about the birds and flowers and the reminder that God sees, values, and provides for us. It’s another very Walking Rooted conversation about finding God in the middle of ordinary life, unexpected adventures, and a lot of questionable decisions.

  • Would You Rather Have Mono or Destroy the Ring? | WALKING ROOTED 015
    2026/06/03

This episode of the Walking Rooted podcast goes completely off the rails in the best way possible. Jesse and Wayne talk about surviving mononucleosis, watching all of The Lord of the Rings while sick, whether Frodo actually had the same symptoms, and the impossible “Would You Rather” question: would you rather have mono… or carry the One Ring to Mount Doom? Along the way they debate s’mores, custom Converse, pizza ovens, listening to podcasts at 2x speed, and why dessert pizza just feels wrong.

But underneath the laughs, the conversation also turns toward faith, community, and what God has been teaching them lately. The guys reflect on Psalm 67, God’s blessing as a way to bless others, and praying for those hurting in their local community. If you enjoy Christian podcasts, funny conversations, Lord of the Rings references, random rabbit trails, and honest discussions about life and faith, this episode is for you.
