概要

Hosted by Baylee Hefley and Kate Caris, Walking Defined is a podcast about discovering what it means to live a life fully shaped by God. Through honest conversation, prayer, scripture, and shared testimony, Baylee and Kate explore how faith touches every part of daily life—marriage, motherhood, friendship, identity, and the quiet moments with God in between.

What began as a weekly 6 a.m. prayer partnership has grown into a space where women can be encouraged to draw near to the Lord, find community, and be reminded of His presence in both the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Each episode points back to the truth of God’s Word—“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:6). With reverence, vulnerability, and joy, Baylee and Kate invite you to walk defined not by the world, but by the One who calls you His own.

  • What Is the Purpose of This Life? | Humility, Eternity, and Living for What Matters
    2026/02/10

n this episode of Walking Defined, Kate and Baylee step back and ask a question every believer must wrestle with:

What is the purpose of this life?

If it’s not to amass wealth, status, entertainment, or happiness, then what are we actually living for?

This conversation was sparked by Baylee reading The Final Quest by Rick Joyner, an allegorical vision of the Christian life that opened a deeper reflection on humility, pride, spiritual warfare, and eternal perspective. From there, Kate and Baylee unpack how pride functions as a primary tactic of the enemy, why humility is required to even see the battle, and how easily distraction pulls believers away from what truly matters.

Together, they explore the tension between living faithfully in the world while not living for the world, why even good pursuits can become vanity when rooted in pride, and how Scripture consistently points us back to eternity as the lens through which life should be evaluated.

This episode also addresses the urgency of salvation, the reality of spiritual warfare that never pauses, and the call for believers to live intentionally, storing up treasures in heaven rather than building kingdoms on earth.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Why pride is a primary tactic of the enemy and how it blinds believers
    • The “cloak of humility” and why humility allows us to see spiritual warfare clearly
    • Why the spiritual battle never takes a break in this life
    • How distraction keeps believers passive and ineffective
    • The difference between happiness and joy
    • Why even wisdom can become vanity when pursued for self
    • The urgency of choosing eternity and the danger of remaining undecided
    • What it means to store up treasures in heaven
    • Why humility is not self-hatred or lack of confidence
    • The difference between striving to look holy and being transformed by Christ
    • Why renewing the mind daily in God’s Word is essential
    • How silence, stillness, and listening shape discernment
    • A closing prayer for reordered priorities, humility, and renewed focus on eternity

    Scripture referenced:

    • Ecclesiastes 1–2 – The vanity of wealth, pleasure, and earthly wisdom
    • Matthew 6:20 – Storing up treasures in heaven
    • James 1:19–20 – Humility, restraint, and righteousness
    • Philippians 4:7 – The peace of God that surpasses understanding
    • Proverbs 18:21 – The power of life and death in the tongue
    • Luke 10:38–42 – Mary and Martha and choosing the better thing

  • Kate’s Testimony | Confession, Freedom, and the God Who Redeems Everything
    2026/02/03

In this episode of Walking Defined, Kate shares her testimony in full — a story marked by brokenness, shame, addiction, regret, and ultimately, redemption through the relentless grace of God.

Kate and Baylee sit together for a deeply personal conversation about growing up without a firm foundation in faith, searching for control and identity through relationships, walking through abortion, addiction, and isolation, and the long road toward surrender. This episode is an honest look at what happens when shame is carried in silence, and how confession opens the door to real healing.

Kate shares how God pursued her even when she was running, how addiction masked unhealed wounds, and how a powerful moment of surrender finally broke years of shame. Through the lens of Scripture and lived experience, this conversation highlights the difference between forgiveness that is intellectually understood and freedom that is fully lived.

This episode also explores the role of community, the healing power of confession, and the beauty of a God who does not waste pain — even the parts of our story we wish we could erase.

Content note: This episode includes sensitive topics and is intended for mature audiences.

  • When Grace Feels Out of Reach | Depression, Shame, and the Faithfulness of God
    2026/01/27

In this episode of Walking Defined, Kate and Baylee are joined by special guest and dear friend Anita Morton for an honest, deeply theological conversation about depression, shame, redemption, and the faithfulness of God over a lifetime.

Anita shares her testimony of coming to faith, walking away, and returning to Christ through seasons marked by addiction, chronic depression, loss, infertility, adoption, and ongoing sanctification. With humility and clarity, she speaks to what it means to trust God when healing does not come quickly - or in the way we expect - and how suffering can become a means of deeper dependence rather than distance from Him.

Together, the women discuss the lies shame whispers to keep believers from God’s presence, the difference between conviction and condemnation, and why depression is not a sign of weak faith. Drawing from Scripture, including Paul’s “thorn in the flesh,” Anita reframes suffering as a place where God’s power is made visible, not absent.

This conversation also explores adoption as a reflection of the Gospel, the sanctifying work of marriage and motherhood, and the quiet ways God proves His nearness—even in the smallest details. Above all, this episode is an invitation to weary hearts: you are not alone, and God has not let go of you.

If you are walking through depression, carrying shame, or struggling to believe God is still at work in your life, this episode is for you.

    Scripture Referenced in This Episode:

    • 2 Corinthians 4:6–7 — God’s power displayed through weakness
    • 2 Corinthians 12:6–10 — The thorn in the flesh and sufficient grace
    • Romans 7–8 — The tension between the flesh and the Spirit
    • Romans 12 — The renewing of the mind

If this episode encouraged you, consider sharing it with someone who may need to hear that God is still faithful—even here.
