  • High School Football - Week 4 - Galion at Shelby - September 12th, 2025

    The Shelby Whippets (4-0) came from behind in the 2nd half to beat the Galion Tigers, 45-34, at the Whippet Athletic Complex on Friday night. Galion led 14-6 after the 1st quarter and 21-20 at halftime. The Tigers scored a long TD to start the 3rd quarter to go up by a score of 28-20 with 11:07 left in the 3rd Q. Shelby then outscored Galion 17-0 to grab the lead for the 1st time in the 4th quarter. Whippets QB, Brayden DeVito scored 5 TDs, 3 rushing and 2 passing to lead Shelby's offense . Michael Shepherd and Avery Lambert caught TD's. Travis Slone and Gavin Baker ran the ball well. Slone was outstanding on defense and the Whippets came up with a huge safety late in the 4th quarter. Galion WR Jacob Chambers had a big game, as he caught 3 TDs for the Tigers (3-1), who suffered their first loss of the year.

  • High School Football - Clear Fork at Lexington - Week 3, September 5th, 2025

    The Lexington Minutemen (2-1) defeated the Clear Fork Colts, 31-28, in a thriller on Friday night in Lexington. Minutemen QB Joe Caudill was one of the stars of the game for Lex, as he accounted for 3 TDs, two passing to Brayden Fogle, 43 yards and 57 yards. Caudill also ran for a 69 yard TD and came up with the game saving defensive play late in the 4th quarter, as he intercepted a pass at the 10 yard line with around 1:00 to play. Seven Allen was huge for Lex with a key 60 yard TD run, where he broke multiple tackles with 4:31 to play in the game. Clear Fork (2-1) suffers their 1st loss of the year. QB Marcus Hoeflich and Devyn Oswalt each scored 2 TDs for the Colts. *The game aired on WMAN with Aaron Hines and Erik Will*

  • High School Football Week 2 - Lexington at Shelby - August 29th, 2025

    The Shelby Whippets improved to 2-0 on Friday, as they beat Lexington, 37-13, in their home opener at the Whippet Athletic Complex. Shelby QB Brayden DeVito was electric on two huge TD runs of 56 yards and 76 yards. The Senior QB also threw two TD passes to Carter Kessler for 53 yards and a 24 yard strike to Brady Bowman. Kessler was a monster on defense, as he recorded a sack from his defensive end spot, along with a deflected pass, multiple tackles and just lived in the backfield all night. Lexington Senior QB, Joe Caudill threw two TD passes, one to Seven Allen and the other to Avery Crawford. The game was closed at halftime, 15-7 Shelby, but the Whippets got two big TD runs late, Devito 56 yards and Gavin Baker to seal the game.   • High School Football 2025 - Week1 - Shelby at Madison - August 22nd

    The Shelby Whippets were impressive on opening night of the high school football season on Friday, as they rolled past Madison, 56-14, in front of a big crowd at Ram Field at Startek Stadium. The Whippets racked up 22 first downs and saw 5 different guys find the endzone on the night. Brayden Devito accounted for 4 TDs, 3 passing and 1 rushing. Devito had over 260 yards of offense in just over two quarters of action. Gavin Baker rushed for over 60 yards and two touchdowns (12 yards and 3 yards). Brady Bowman hauled in two scores and showed off his speed from 49 yards and 36 yards out. Michael Shepherd made a big impact as he knocked the ball away from Madison's QB on the 1st play from scrimmage, which the Whippets recovered and Shepherd then moments later caught the game's 1st TD. Shelby fans and football fans were introduced to star freshman Luke Blevins in the 3rd quarter, as he showed incredible speed, vision and power, when he ran a man over and plowed into the endzone for a 17 yard touchdown. Hunter Oney played very well on Shelby's defensive line to help Shelby to their 14th straight regular season win and 10th in a row over Madison. The Rams got TD runs from Kaleb Gordon and Colton Adkins. (Aired 8/22/25 with Aaron Hines and Erik Will)

  • 2025 News Journal All-Star Classic

    The 46th News Journal All-Star Classic was played at Lexington High School. The North defeated the South, 150 - 114. The 150 points tied the most ever scored in the history of the game and Toby Rogers from Highland was named MVP. Rogers scored a game high 36 points and grabbed 12 boards. The contest raised over $11,000 for Catalyst Life Services.
