Part 3 of The Queue looks at the history behind queuing. Transcription: “Welcome to part three of Great British Traditions, The Queue, History. There is also a historical element to queues. In the Second World War, the British had to queue a great deal for rations. And sometimes, you know, first one in, last one in, not everybody always got it, so fairness was very important. And occasionally, new queues would pop up and people would join them, not always knowing what they were getting, but they knew there was something that they could get, which maybe explains the point earlier about why on earth people would join a queue without knowing what the queue is for. But so there is actually a historical reason behind this love of fairness and this love of queuing, I think, which is an interesting point. End of part 3”
