    Mr. Ron Klopfanstein describes the amazing journey of his life before, during, and after 10 years of total, bed-ridden disability from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CFS). He and Dr. Neckup discuss CFS symptoms, the dramatic tipping point at which he began moving to recovery, and what he did to regain his vibrant life. He and Dr. Neckup have a few “spirited” moments about what he believes worked for him in recovering, which medical science says is potentially harmful, possibly deadly, and how his recovery likely came from other things he was doing. Dr. Neckup presents the possible related psychological mechanisms, including Mr. Klopfanstein’s energized, steadfast belief that he would recover. They ended agreeing to disagree!

    We usually are all laughs and jokes on Check It Out, but for this week we tackle a serious subject. Maggie and Tom talk with Nicole Hotchkiss of Contact Community Services. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and six libraries are teaming up with CCS as part of a support event called the "Chalk the Walk" Initiative. This takes place the week of September 21st and you can find out which libraries are handing out chalk totes. We hope you listen in this week to Check It Out.
