  • Riverview creates Timbits Minor Hockey

    Did you know Timbits Minor Hockey started right here at the Byron Dobson Arena?

    In 1982 Gary O'Neill's youngest son Corey registered for Riverview Minor Hockey, the jersey left much to be desired so Gary and his Tim Hortons Restaurants in the Greater Moncton Area decided to sponsor them, the rest we can safely say is history!

    Now over 89,000 kids take part in the Timbits program across Canada!

    Joining me in today's interview is Craig O'Neill (Gary's Son) and Barry Pineau (Coach of the very 1st Timbits hockey team)

  • HMCS Coverdale, the "Spies" of WWll
    2023/10/06

    HMCS Coverdale was established as a Special Wireless Station (High Frequency/Direction Finder (HF/DF) station) on November 23, 1942. It was situated across the Petitcodiac River in what would be Riverview.

     On April 30, 1945, a HMCS Coverdale operator intercepted a message sent by German Admiral Karl Doenitz telling all his forces that Hitler was dead. She was the first allied person to hear the news of his death. https://www.canada.ca/en/navy/services/history/ships-histories/coverdale.html

These games included your typical Track and Field Sports like long jump and relay races, the games had basketball, soccer and more BUT they also had drama skits and movie nights, exceptional dances and so much fun.
