“Every viewpoint is a view from a point, and we had best know our own. Where you start largely determines the questions you ask (or don't ask), the trajectory you set, and the goals you hope to achieve. Truth does not appear like an apparition of low-hanging fruit in a celestial garden. It always comes wrapped in the society and historical moment that produced it.“ —Richard Rohr, writing about the prophet Amos in "The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for an Age of Outrage"
How do we live compassionately in a time of violence and despair? What can we do with our private disappointments and the anger we feel in such an unjust world? Theologian Richard Rohr turns us to the writings of the prophets to respond to these questions. In his book, "The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for the Age of Outrage," Rohr teaches us that prophets are not so much fortune tellers but rather truth tellers. In this series, Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka will draw on Rohr’s wisdom to help us make our way as faithful followers of Jesus Christ in what many feel is an “age of outrage.”
