Genesis 1:1 takes us to the beginning of everything. Before creation, before time, before the universe itself, God already was.

In this episode of Verse by Verse, Benjamin Michael McGreevy explores what the opening words of Genesis reveal about God as Creator, His eternal nature, and the foundation they establish for everything that follows in Scripture.

This is the beginning of a journey through the Bible one verse at a time, slowing down to consider what each passage means and how it applies to our lives and faith today.

Verse by Verse: A Daily Devotional Through the Whole Bible

Written and hosted by Benjamin Michael McGreevy

Verse by Verse began as a personal journey to slow down and truly understand what Scripture is saying—one verse at a time. As I spent more time carefully studying, reflecting on, and dissecting each passage, I saw how deeply God’s Word was transforming my own life, and I knew I wanted to share that journey with others.

What started as a personal study became a book, then a completely free online project at VerseByVerseBook.com so that people around the world could participate whether or not they could access the books. And now, for those who would rather listen than read, Verse by Verse is becoming a podcast.

Title:

What Is Verse by Verse? | The Mission Behind the Journey

Description:

Verse by Verse began as a personal journey to slow down and truly understand what Scripture is saying—one verse at a time. As I spent more time carefully studying, reflecting on, and dissecting each passage, I saw how deeply God’s Word was transforming my own life, and I knew I wanted to share that journey with others.

What started as a personal study became a book, then a completely free online project at VerseByVerseBook.com so that people around the world could participate whether or not they could access the books. And now, for those who would rather listen than read, Verse by Verse is becoming a podcast.

The mission is simple: slow down. Instead of rushing through Scripture, we’re going to take the Bible one verse at a time, ask questions, explore connections throughout Scripture, and really think about what God’s Word is communicating.

Whether you’ve studied the Bible for decades, are opening it for the first time, or simply want to understand Scripture more deeply, you’re invited to come along.

31,102 verses.

66 books.

One verse at a time.
