This week has an underlying Mercurial theme, as Mercury leaves the currently complicated sign of Leo, strongly glowing with the Sun’s presence while also showing us the long term rough patches that obstructionist Ketu has revealed since mid-2025, recently loosened and revealed after the August eclipse cycle. Mercury moves on to more productive things, entering his own sign of Virgo on Sunday, September 6th, where he gains the compound aspect of Saturn, who supports Mercury’s humble approach to practice, and Mars, who shares Mercury’s enthusiasm for efficiently getting work done. The waning Moon begins the week joining Mars in Mercury’s air sign, Gemini. Moving through Cancer and meeting with Jupiter on Monday and Tuesday, we could benefit from some self care and reconnection. Wednesday seems vulnerable, with the Moon moving past Ketu into its final waning phase, protect your energy. On Thursday, the Moon pivots as it glides invisibly past the Sun in Leo for the new Moon, providing a pregnant pause where we can see what comes next after an active summer begins to come to a close. The newly waxing Moon joins Mercury in Virgo to finish the week, indicating that this is a week for finishing up Mercury’s analytical air side of current projects or situations, pausing and pivoting on Wednesday and Thursday, and with a push from a newly waxing Moon, move toward hands on, practical implementation as the week ends.Mercury’s underlying influence comes with it strongly moving into Virgo, but we also have the Moon starting and ending the week occupying Mercury ruled signs, and we have retrograde Saturn placed in a Mercury ruled nakshatra, aspecting Virgo. And pushing Mercury toward an energetic week is Rahu’s aspect to Gemini jump starting Mars, whose force then projects toward Mercury in Virgo. September in general is providing good energy for clearing, processing, and producing. Coming up in October, both Mercury and Venus will take retrograde motion in Libra, and with the extra amplification of Rahu’s aspect, things could get exciting. Prepare for what you can’t see coming by reorganizing, settling on schedules, and finishing up important foundational tasks. Daily Keywords & Notes:Sunday, Sept 6— FINISH TO STARTArdra/Punarvasu, K10–K11, Moon + Mars, Mercury enters Virgo. Excellent for finishing lingering work, sorting information, making repairs, clearing communications, completing a task that has been blocking the next one, and getting tools/materials in order. Mars can make the Moon impatient; use that force on the work rather than the people.Monday, Sept 7 — YES AND NOPushya, K12, Moon in Cancer. This is discernment through nourishment: what gets fed and what doesn’t? Restore energy, tend home, food, family and practical resources; maintain what is worth maintaining. A good day for boundaries precisely because Pushya’s impulse is to nourish.Tuesday, Sept 8 — TAKE THE WINAshlesha, K13, Moon + Jupiter. K13/Jaya supports accomplishment and resolution, while Jupiter gives some breadth to what could otherwise become Ashlesha entanglement. Finish negotiations, solve something complicated, recognize progress, consolidate a gain. Don’t keep wrestling after you’ve won. Wednesday, Sept 9 — CLEAN SWEEPMagha, K14. Very strong pairing. Rikta Chaturdashi plus Magha/Ketu: discard, purge, clean, sever, finish difficult business, clear inherited or habitual clutter, literally or metaphorically. With the Moon newly past Ketu and approaching darkness, conserve energy rather than beginning something demanding.Thursday, Sept 10 — SEEDS OF CHANGEPurva Phalguni, K15/Amavasya. Retreat, rest, observe, prepare. Purva Phalguni can remind us that regeneration requires pleasure, ease and receptivity—not constant productivity. Don’t dig the seed back up to see whether it’s growing. Let the pause be fertile.Friday, Sept 11 — GERMINATIONUttara Phalguni, S1, Moon + Mercury in Virgo. Start something modest and concrete. Make the schedule. Begin the routine. Organize the workspace. Put the first piece into production. Shukla Pratipada + Virgo favors small beginnings capable of becoming systems.Saturday, Sept 12 — HANG LOOSEHasta, S2. Hasta could tempt you into gripping too tightly. S2/Bhadra wants stabilization, while Hasta is skill of hand. Work with what’s in your hands, adjust as you go, make something, practice something, negotiate, cooperate. Competence without rigidity.Hello! I’m Kerry Shamblin and I practice jyotisha, also known as Vedic astrology.
