Vanderbilt’s future just got brighter with five-star freshman Jared Curtis taking over as starting quarterback after a breakout performance against Delaware, where he threw for over 200 yards and two touchdowns. Coach Lea’s move signals a new offensive direction—more downfield passing—and it’s already lighting up the stat sheets for key players. Tight end Jayvontay Conner, targeted heavily and catching six passes for 87 yards, is clearly Curtis’s go-to guy. Wide receiver Junior Sherrill, despite some drops, was targeted 12 times and is primed for deep-ball magic with Curtis’s improving accuracy. Running back Sedrick Alexander, who boasts elite hands, could become a crucial check-down option out of the backfield. And speedy wideout Kayleb Barnett? He’s poised to be the deep-threat weapon Curtis can rely on to stretch defenses. This isn’t just a QB change—it’s a full-on offensive upgrade with big-play potential across the board.

Vanderbilt has officially named freshman phenom Jared Curtis their starting quarterback, beating out veteran Blaze Berlowitz after months of competition. In his debut second-half performance against Delaware, Curtis threw for 210 yards and rushed for two touchdowns — essentially carrying the team’s offense. Already hailed by teammates as a “baller” who thrives under pressure, Curtis is Vanderbilt’s first-ever five-star recruit and a generational talent with a ceiling that rivals NFL legends like Jay Cutler and Matthew Stafford. His breakout game convinced coaches he’s ready to lead — and he’ll make his first official start against NC State. The future of Vanderbilt football just got a whole lot brighter.
